This looks like another promising netflix original series in the offing. It is set during the drug wars of the 80's involving Pablo Escobar and the like.

Binge watched this show, very interesting, well shot and Pablo Escobar is brilliantly played by Wagner Moura, although not sure the narration by a pretty dull DEA agent was the way to go.

Yeah I'm loving this and tempted to binge watch it as well but trying my best to restrict myself to just watching the one episode at a time - watched 4 so far. Like you say Wagna Moura does a great Escobar. You don't want to get on the wrong side of that fella!

Also like the original footage of the time inserted into the proceedings. Good stuff.

I've heard good stuff about this and have added it to my list, but god knows when I'll get round to watch it. I'm still crawling my way through the last series of OITNB!

Incidentally, along the same lines the Italian drama Gommorah, about a mafia family, was excellent on Sky earlier this year. If you can find it anywhere then it's highly recommended!

It gets better as it goes on. Some of the heartless and cruel decisions he makes make him an absolute monster of a character. Even I was thinking no he surely wouldn't do that would he? Then he did.

Good news for Narcos fans - Netflix confirm there will definitely be a second season.

Interesting Q & A with the "real" Steve Murphy & Javier Pena and how their experiences were relayed into the making of Narcos.

Started watching this today and enjoyed it a lot, as mentioned the guy playing Escobar does a great job and I also enjoy the narration, the fact that much of the dialogue is in subtitled Spanish makes it more authentic but this is why having a narrator throughout is beneficial as it makes it easier to keep up with what's going on as aside from the foreign speaking it switches time-lines quite rapidly.

Good show, can see myself binge watching this along with the Walking Dead at present.

To tie me over until the second season starts, I had a look at related shows and have started watching "Pablo Escobar, el patron del mal" on US netflix and I'm really enjoying it. It begins with him at around 10 years old, but only for the first episode, you see how he came about getting the infamous mugshot etc, etc.

It takes a little while to adjust seeing different actors playing Escobar and his cronies, but If you enjoyed Narcos then this might be worth a watch. 74 episodes as well!

Anyone else having problems with the subtitles?

I only got part way through episode 1 and they always seem to be a few seconds behind what is actually being said.
Then a few would be bunched up together, displayed too briefly to read comfortably.

TBH I didn't get around to checking whether they are burnt in or embedded so it could be my sony Bluray player having difficulties.

Just finished the tenth episode. Absolutely loved this series; it kept me riveted throughout and Wagner Moura's performance as Escobar was terrific.

I'm glad there's going to be a second season, but given what happened to Escobar (and that point can't be too far off), how long can they keep the story going?

The second season is due to hit netflix on 2/9/`16, however, the brother of dear old Pablo is demanding the small matter of $1 Billion !

Roberto Escobar, who claims to be the "successor-in-interest rights” to the Escobar family, has reportedly demanded a whopping $1 billion from Netflix for content rights. Roberto Escobar is the brother of Pablo Escobar (assassinated by Colombian Police back in 1993). In addition, he looked after accounts of Pablo Escobar’s Medellin Cartel drug operation.

Escobar even went ahead to threaten the premier of the show saying “If they decline my offer we have attorneys ready to proceed with necessary actions…I don't think there will be any more 'Narcos' if they do not talk to me. You have to pay to play, and they are playing me without paying.”

For those who are interested Netflix also has the Colombian drama Pablo Escobar - El Patron del Mal which although is in Spanish is in my opinion a much better adaptation of the life of that evil dead piece of merde.

At 74 episodes it's a long slog but it certainly fills in a lot of the background of the life of the scumbag, never knew he was a sick child rapist amongst his other vile attributes, if you want to get a full insight into him and not the Narcos edited highlights then give this a go.
