Both the Plane Crash and the Helicopter crash?

Were any other characters around at that time?

Technically Eric didn't 'survive' the helicopter crash as he wasn't in the area at the time but he has been through two aircraft crashes in his village.

I can't think of any other existing characters who were in ED in 1993 when the plane crash happened

Good point yeah. He must feel dam lucky to still be alive given the number of disasters, murders and freak accidents to have occurred during his time in that tiny village!!

Hadn't Edna been living in the village for years before we saw her character on screen?

Surprised Robert hasn't used his post traumatic stress about surviving both to garner sympathy and forgiveness from Chrissie!! He's tried almost everything else. Slimeball

Both his wives were killed in the accidents though. The woman he gets with next might want to think twice, Eric might be as cursed as Home Farm

Eric and Robert the only characters who were in the plane crash. Ross's girlfriend Donna was in the plane crash too, she was in a burning barn at Home farm.

Wow. You'd think that fact might be referenced!!! In fact, has anyone even mentioned the plane crash, since tnat helicopter fell out of the sky?! Whilst I accept they aren't intrinsically linked, they are both air disasters that have befell one tiny village in the middle of nowhere!!

This is what I have said for years! Emmerdale are crap at keeping their 'historical' characters, and the ones they did keep they either got rid off or killed them off. The fact that the plane crash is never mentioned is because no sod was there (Abate Eric and Rob)

Yeah you would think they would reference the crash, Eric wasn't the only one there back then right? Robert would have been there and Zack too right?

Zac not in person. He wasn't introduced until October 1994. Plane crash happened in December 1993.

Yeah as others have said, character like the Dingles and Edna lived in the village at the time but were not featured.

Eric didn't kill Elizabeth. He thought about it, but didn't have to because of the plane crash.

Did he Sorcha? Wasn't that all put to bed when Elizabeth's son tried to blackmail Eric? He and Val had a heart to heart where he admitted he would have killed her, but the plane crash beat him to it?!

Yes, and its funny that they don't mention it but newer charters seem to know other historical facts, like Ross bringing up the Dingles' incestuous ways or when Finn and James were discussing Aaron beating up Paddy during his coming out story. If that stuff is common knowledge a plane crash should be as well.
