All this discussion about stage schools is a bit pointless. Anyone who goes to one of those places gets some 'training' in dance, but it doesn't mean they will be good.
You can teach someone to move better (body awareness) and show them several steps, but if the innate ability isn't there there is only so far you can go. Some will never get it (Judy Murray).
Streetdance teaches you sod all about dancing but a lot about balance and beat. It's not that useful for ballroom.
I've taught people to dance well enough to get through their wedding, but without the raw material even the best teacher in the world can't turn them into 'dancers'.
People like Natalie Gumede had real talent. That makes the difference. And, as you say aggs, some vote for entirely different reasons on SCD and their choice has sod all to do with the best dancer. The GBP are fickle.
