Well, according to the information I have (now that I have gone back and read it properly), if the version ID starts with 9F21, then you should have had the update. Why it didn't get it has to be down to either a weak signal or a problem with your STB. I couldn't possibly explain anything beyond that. I guess your options are to contact Sky or just wait for the next update whenever that may be.

Or it could be as goOds says. Yes, that's probably it unfortunately, in which case all you can do is wait for the next update and don't force the update.

Well Daniel can wait till the update becomes available on the 'forced stream' (for want of a better term) and *then* do a 'forced download', but it won't be available there till Sky decide it has no significant bugs, (which may or may not be some time) and make it the default firmware.

So if there is new s/w on the cards leave your box be. (Assuming that is you want the new s/w, it sounds like a lot of people would rather they didn't have it.)

My EPG Software version is 3.3b.5 -- I want 3.3a.6 -- the latest. Tried forced download THREE times -- did'nt work ie still on version 3.3b.5. What must I do to force the download successfully? Thanks Michael tjr. PS For various reasons (too boring to relate here ) I cannot leave the sat. rx. switched-on continuously -- must pick my times to view and hence download manually. Is'nt life a bitch sometimes!

(Not sure if I understand you here.) You have the latest 3.3b.5, if you want to go back and Sky have put the new s/w on the forced stream then there would seem to be nothing you can do to go backwards now.

Ah woe is me! I thought that 3.3a.6 WAS the latest! I'll stick with 3.3b.5 -- many thanks for almost instant reply! What a service! Cheers Michael tjr.

Further to my problem letter yesterday -- after downloading in the normal way does Sky continue to download (or perhaps modify existing software) at a later date or dates? Regularly my sat rx has reverted to ch 998 even though left on a program the night before - a sat. rx. already having the latest epg version. What else would cause my set to go to 998 overnight and sometimes even during the day? Regards in perplexity, Michael tjr.

A power cut would do that, (maybe even just a 'power dip' depending on how finicky the box is.) Also the box can crash on its own accord and then reboot where upon it will come back on Ch 998. Let's hope they found and fixed a bug that may cause it to happen less now.

What make and model is your box?

Hi Miles, Thanks for reply. Details of sat. rx as follows: Name: Pace; Model:
1.3.25 (It could be 4/5years old - maybe more) Version: 9F0103; Operating system: 12S4FB; EPG Version: 3.3b.5. Any clues there? Cheers Michael tjr.

Not really, IIRC many Paces of that era have a ZIF tuner (Zero Intermediate Frequency (sp?)) which as I understand is very susceptable to component tolerances. I don't know if you tuner is causing the reboots but maybe if it is corrupting the data stream the proc may hang? Other than that do the obvious like check the cables.

Since the update of the new software (with the awful new background) my box has reset nearly every day. I think the update on mine was last Thursday, when the last test started. 3 times it reset during the cricket. Sunday it reset 3 or so times through the day, and today it has reset 5 times already, all during the cricket again. That's more times in the past few days than in all the time I've been on Sky. That's not right. And for all I know it may well of reset at other times whilst I was not at home.

I've noticed the same - many "998" prog experiences over the past few weeks. I suspect they may be continuing updating their epg but doing it in small "blocks" of transmitted detailed software -- hence the many "switch-off's" I hope they finish soon -- I've done everything bar throw out the sat rx altogether. Patience patience patience. Michael tjr.

Would have to happen right at the point Kevin Pietersen got his first test 100.

My Pace DS430N got the update sometime last night, the adult channel function will come in handy, but I think the new background looks awful.

I also got the new update last night on the pace 430n. I thought you could customise the EPG to just go through the favourites now, but there seems no difference at all.......

OK, about two weeks ago My Sky+ caved in and they sent out a technician to replace the box. But, that morning he came my old Sky+ got the EPG update. However, my new box didn't have the update and I've tried forced upgrade numerous times and it still hasn't come.

Any advice?

I like that to as they are total rubbish any way so I don't bother with them, but what's going on with TCM? I now have to keep entering my PIN in order to watch any of the films that are on. I have no channel or age restrictions set up at all, and I've only noticed this recently. Is this as a result of the update? And my box is still reseting several times a day.
