LOL - thanks Binky.... I had just re-read RJT's post, and determined that it was the right code, and editted my original, so that I didn't look so much the idiot for not reading closely!

Ta for capturing it for posterity! I guess I deserve it

Anyway - Well, it's in standby.. wondering whether to just leave it be, or switch it on and have a look. Will they be running the start-signal all day long, or is it just overnight? Just curious... it'll happen when it happens, really.

LOL. Exactly the same thing happened to me the other day, it never seems to happen when you've only gone back to edit a small typo or something.

Our boxes have been updating as the morning has gone by, so it seems that the mop-up is being broadcast during the day as well. I personally wouldn't think that switching it on to have a look would be harmful.

Try scrolling back this thread a bit, and reading some of RJT's very helpful posts.

Giving us the "mod no" (which I guess must mean 'model number', yes?) doesn't help much, because they change.

The VERSION number is the one to look for, then compare the first four digits with RJT & Binky's extremely helpful posts.

If it ain't on those lists, then NOBODY KNOWS... yet. So just hang tight until that code turns up in an announcement (which I am sure either Binky or RJT20 will post again, bless 'em).

Really folks... (generic rant - not directed especially at nbrown)... it does help to actually READ some of the good stuff these people are posting for us. If all we're going to do is ask "when do I get mine", without even doing the most basic humble research or studying the previous offerings, we're not going to get far, are we?

And it's no good saying "I ain't got time to read back"... it's not THAT far back, and if you ain't got time, then I don't expect the people helping will have much time for you, either... not for long, anyway...

Whoever installed that Box needs shooting, anyhow - It should have been left updated to 3.3b.5 for you rather than being left in the "stockroom" state of 3.3a.6

My neighbour has a newish Thompson and I have a Pace DS430N, neither of which have got the latest upgrade.

Putting two and two together with your own comment, it seems that the latest model boxes are at the back of the queue!

In sky's defense ( ), I think the box in question is one of the 'new style' Amstrads; they haven't actually released 3.3b.5 for that model because it came out so shortly before the new EPG version was due so, like the iDTVs, it has the most recent version available for it.

Well if that is the case, the Installer is forgiven!

My Cobra was delivered from stock at 3.2.11 last July, when all boxes had had 3.3a.6 for a little while, and I have come across other people who have not benefitted from upgrading at the time of installation (subject to availability, of course!)

Needless to say, my Cobra was updated at Installation 'cos I done it myself, guv!

This, to me, is one of the frustrating aspects of forums - unless you have specific and controlled threads for the provision of facts (as opposed to the free-for-all discussion we all know and love elsewhere) it is very easy for things to get 'lost' sometimes. Every time I post to it I'm very aware that this thread is ostensibly here to hold FAQs as (presumably) an easy and quick reference, and I feel slightly guilty. Don't really know what the answer is to that one.

(Thank you for your kind words, BigJacko, I hope that sky personally send you your update first next time. )

Doh - right on cue.

Hold me back, Binky, hold me back

Lee - read back a couple of pages in this thread - find RJT's post with the list of Version number prefixes that have been updated. If your 4F05 number is NOT on that list as having been targeted for update on either the 7th or 8th of Feb, then chill out, and wait. Only get stressed if it IS on that list, and you haven't got it, ok?

Head. Wall. Bang bang bang. <--- Edited for clarity: my head, not anyone else's. I'm not condoning violence, here, people.

Can I preface your sentence with "take the time you've spent crossposting this all over the shop to read back..."?

The new software being transmitted to digiboxes is 3.4.4b

Note: to check what type of box you have, press Services on your Sky remote, Select 4. System Setup and select 5. System Details. Note the Version number 3rd line from the top of the screen, you only need to match the first 4 characters of the version number.

9F02 - PACE TP3
9F03 - PACE TP3 B1
9F06 - PACE SABRE
9F08 - PACE RAPIER
9F09 - PACE JAVELIN
4E05 - GRUNDIG ASPEN
4F01 - AMSTRAD TP2
0F02 - PANASONIC MN2
6F01 - SONY TP3

The above listed box types will begin to recieve the new software from 4am, however not all boxes listed above will recieve the software first time round, don't worry as they repeat the download.

If your box is not listed above, don't panic, it will be done eventually, just sit tight.

The following boxes were updated last night.

9F01 - Pace TP2
9F05 - Pace 5512
4E02 - Grundig TP3
4E06 - Thomson Maple
4E08 - Thomson Oak
4F02 - Amstrad TP3
4F03 - Amstrad 5512 / NIM (4F03 01/02/03)
4F06 - Amstrad DRX400
0F03 - Panasonic MN2.5 / Maco

WHATEVER YOU DO, DON'T ATTEMPT A FORCED DOWNLOAD ON A STANDARD DIGIBOX!
(Unless instructed by someone at sky!)

If your box hasn't recieved the software update yet however it has been listed previously or is listed above and it's now passed that download your box will catch up with the rest when they repeat the signal.

Attempting a Forced Download on a standard digibox is not a good idea as your box will only revert to the current version (in most cases 3.3b.5 or 3.3a.6). Doing a forced download to a standard digibox will prolong the update from reaching your box.

The new software will not be placed onto the forced download stream until February 24th so there is no point in trying to get it before that date.

My Box isn't listed above, when will it recieve the update?
Further release dates for other models are not available, this is the only information we have available on the updates at the moment so we cannot tell you when your box will get the update if it isn't already listed above or has been listed previously on either this thread or another thread.

Any problems with the new software when you first get it, just power cycle the box (turn it off at mains and back on again) this usually clears the problem and you should be back up and running again.
Just to make it easier to find..

Note date of original post was not " today " as in Thursday 9th Feb.

Thanks again to RJT20.

Here is the list of Boxes that should have had the update upto yet.

Edit- 'silvernet' beat me to it, looks like we both had the same idea.

Lee, just perchance, is the word THANK YOU (ok, two words, I admit), in your vocabulary?

I think you owe Digiman and Silvernet at least one small iteration of that wonderful door-opening, sunshine-spreading phrase, simply for digging out the post which you were incapable of locating for yourself, and sticking it right in front of your eyes.

Don't you?

@silvernet & Digiman... you can see now why I didn't go running off to re-post it myself, I hope? Bear in mind there'll be another ten along in a minute, asking the same question, and with the same degree of pleasantry and gratitude..

My 1 year old Pace 430N ((9F0A01) is still on 3.2.11.-I have tried a forced update but it stays on that. Will it skip the 3.3 and get the new 3.4 or have I got to keep trying the forced update?
Is there a best time to do the forced update?

Just leave it for the time being, and wait for the new update. Yes it will skip all the previous versions and jump straight to 3.4.4b when the update arrive's. I also have one these types of boxes and they haven't had the new update yet, so like I say just leave alone and it will sort itself out in due course.

Next round of software updates will take place from next week, there isn't a definite day yet however we have been informed that 50% of all standard digibox models have now recieved this software update and expected completion of the rollout will happen by the end of next week.

We will post the list of boxes that will be getting the updates next week as soon as we recieve it.

Thank You Digi Man for your very helpful reply. I'll just sit tight as you suggest and keep looking at this thread to see when the 430 might be updated.

Agreed, BigJacko, and thanks for your kind words, all completely ignored by the individual concerned, no surprise there.

I will follow your line in future...easy.
