No. It would take far too long for software to be downloaded through telephone lines.

Is the force software download stream back on line, or this PACE is somehow out of order ???

I have a Pace 2600c1 with very old software 3.2.11 which i have tried every which way to get it to forced upload but no way.

Is there certain times of the day, or days that are best to do the forced update.

Is there a max number of trys to do a forced update, can i ruin anything if i keep on trying, i also heard some one
with a sat service workshop that repeats these forced updates all day until sucessful.

So it isn't only my problem.
I wonder if it is something more than trying and praying?

Would that be 3.5.3?

Was in a rush to get to work....never got a chance to check....

all I can say is the EPG background was definitely different, my box was on 998 (and I left it on ITV2) and the new System Health Check feature mentioned earlier on this thread was definitely there, and it was not there before.

You'd think if I had time to do all the above I'd have managed to check the version number though

(This is my 1st update since getting satellite BTW)
I'm sure this has been asked before but this thread is rather long and none of the pages I've read so far have answered it......

what does this update actually do except from the what I've noted above already???

I'm sure somebody will be along shortly with a comprehensive answer, but as far as I know it adds the 'system health check' tool, and fixes the Gnome preset issue.

And, no, my Amstrad box still hasn't got yhe update

I keep trying to get a forced update for my Panosonic sky box, without succcess. Does anyone know, is there a most favourable time when this is available? Many thanks.

software 3.4.4b and signal well above 50% I think it's over 70.
Many thanks.

That could be the latest software for your box, so forcing really won't make a difference. Many boxes are still on 3.4.4b.

Hi, I am having problems with an old Pace box (which I had before Sky+) that I have installed in a bedroom and for which I have bought a Freesat card. Every couple of days when I switch on I lose most of the channels from the EPG e.g. the other day I was left with only BBC1 & 2. This can be fixed by powering off and back on but obviously this is not satisfactory.
I have been advised (on another forum) that this is due to the old EPG software 3.2.11. I have tried a forced software update on numerous occasions but with no success, it completes the process but I am left with the same EPG version. My signal strength is 50% and quality is 80%. Any ideas on what I can do?

Just leave it plugged in and connected to the dish, it should pick up the software. What type of box is it?

What an evil post number you have there...

I think that the poster has been trying for a long time now.

Have you tried leaving it and not doing any Forced Updates or reboots? It might just be best if you leave it on Sky News for a while (don't bother with Standby either).

Ohh, 666.

It could be a Pace 2600, and many of these boxes have problems updating, and I believe that Sky are working on a fix for this problem.

Yes it is a Pace 2600. Most of the time it is left in standby so I will try leaving it on permanently. It is driving me nuts (wife moaning). I was planning on using this box for multiroom but £10 a month for all this hassle seems a waste of money. Another weird fault is that when I first switch on the picture is frozen with the last frame from before the last switch off, change channel and all is ok. Does all this add up to an EPG bug to you guys? I am wondering if it could be a fault with the box. I hope to be able to get my hands on another old box soon when my inlaws go to Sky+.

To all intents and purposes, they are the same state - all Standby does is remove the Video and Audio Outputs. Everything else remains functional - including the facility to receive Upgrades.

It isn't a picture of the Weatherman, is it? If so, you'll need digitalsatman to exorcise it.

Version 3.5.3 now on Pace 2500S3 at last.

Unfortunately, it still asks for PIN number before allowing access to 'Other Channels', even with the PIN restrictions turned off. I was hoping they would have fixed this with the promised Parental Controls 'relaxation'...

There has been updates to fix other problems within PIN Protection, mainly just minor bugs.
