Umm, I'm a little puzzled here.

On one of my random trips to the system details page, my Thomson DSI4212C is showing all of the following:

Model Number: 4E0803

OS Version: 1.2S4FI
EPG: 3.6.4.18

Is this new or old (I haven't really been in the upgrade loop recently)?

Just had a better look at the forums and there's a post reporting it already - sorry everyone!

My 2 Sky boxes have updated in the last couple of days to:

Pace 2600C1

Model 1.0.77
Version 9F0801
O/S 1.2S4FI
EPG 3.6.4.18

Pace 2500B

Model 1.3Z33
Version 9F0306
O/S 1.2S4FI
EPG 3.6.4.18

Can't see any obvious changes.

Velly interesting....

My ol' Grundig's on the same EPG too - 3.6.4.18... I wonder when that happened... and what it brought to the party?

Like you, I can't see anything obviously different (certainly nothing that would be really useful, like having more than 50 favourites )

Has anyone's DS430N (Pace) been upgraded to 3.6.4.18?

I assume the only reason yu want the updates is for the EPG so cant see the older panasonics being a problem . regarding forced updateing i have tried and think it works by holding down the back up key on the remote, whether this actually works is open to question. i have a panasonic for the FTA/FTV s only so not a problem. being interested to find how FREESAT updates there gear. i assume the same way. It be interesting how yu can store non EPG channels cos there appears not to be a way on the latest Amstrad. (well i have not found a way) yu cant give them channel numbers and offcourse yu are limited how many channels you can store as FTA/FTV think it is 50 on my latest amstrad. The panasonic 40 i have not yet found out.i assume the same amount of channels

It would appear that she hasn't gone to her home...

Joy has spread herself here, and I am reliably informed that I am officially now to be a father!*

*no joke - the real missus (whose name is not Joy, btw) really is really pregnant! W00t!

Oh, and I really am, really really scared! It's our first!

Don't worry lad. When you've had four including twins and then one of the twins has twins herself - well, you sort of get used to it.

Panasonic TUDSB20:
One gone 0F0103, t'other 0F0104
Both OS 1.2S4FI
Both EPG 3.6.4.18

I don't know when but it explains why one was on 998 the other day - I thought we'd had a power cut.
What's it all about?

Heart Congratulations, old fruit

Have you find out what caused it?

Cheers ears!
According to my resident chef (who is allegedly also a gynaecologist - at least, so my wife says), it's got something to do with toad-in-the-hole...

I'm good, Tom, thanks. Enjoying the prospect of parenthood.

And yourself? Hope you've been keeping well. You realise we're all waiting on you to tell us what new-but-so-far-invisible bit of magic was enclosed within this last EPG update, so we can all decide whether it was worth it!

Take care,

Isn't there anybody out there who knows what this update was about?

It'll just be to make the boxes more reliable in certain situations.

I just plugged my panasonic box back into the sky cable been using freeview but got the old panny box out after noticing E4 etc were now free.I no longer subscribe so its freesat.
Anyway checked my software version and did a forced update which seemed to work but still have older version of software :

Panasonic
Model 5.1.1
Version No OFO501
OSV 1.254FH
EPG 3.5.3

Am i stuck on this version or will the box update itself ?

This seems to happen for every 12,15 & 18 rated film on any channel now at any time of the day. Including films of Sci-fi. IS there any way to turn this off, I checked the options but I have everything turned off.

Why do I need to enter a pin to watch a film after 10pm?

There are two software data streams broadcast - one is the forced download software stream and is the last proven stable version of software. The second is the automatic download stream and is cycled through the versions for different makes and models of box.

A forced update will only ever update to the last stable version and is very unlikely to ever be the latest version - it is intended as a recovery stream if there is a problem with an update so as a customer can revert to a working version. The latest version for standard boxes is 3.6.4 and 3.5.3 is the previous version and will only update automatically if the box is left powered (standby is OK) and connected to a dish. The cycle of automatic updates is linked to the number of boxes of a particular version that are in circulation and as the Panasonic is now a fairly uncommon box you may wait quite a few weeks for it to update but it will eventually.

Why people panic over software versions amazes me if they are not having problems then be patient and let it update automatically
