Who at Sky's bright idea was it to allow the boxes to "upgrade" themselves right in the middle of a recording, missing part of the programme, instead of doing something like storing the software update on the HDD, waiting until all recordings were finished, and then starting the update?

Missed part of a programme I was recording overnight because my box helpfully decided to "upgrade" itself right in the middle of it.

It actually was! There'll be a repeat, but it annoys me that in 2016 the box isn't smart enough to go "Oh, there's a recording in progress, best hold off on the update for a bit" - it wasn't even at the end of the programme, about an hour in to a 3 hour scheduled recording.

There is no exact re-run of the live transmission of WWE Raw, the repeats are the syndicated version which can be quite different.
It's not available on catch-up either of course.

I actually download the wrestling rather than watch it on TV.

Is there any way to stop the 'for next episode press green' prompt from appearing? It's annoying having it pop up when I've got several episodes of a show recorded.

Unfortunantly there's no way to disable the prompt. The prompt should only appear on downloads not recordings. So if you record all episodes from live TV then you shouldn't see the prompt.

If you download some episodes from OnDemand then you could delete all other episodes from the stack before starting to playback an episode, this would stop the prompt appearing at the end of that episode. Then once finished you can restore the deleted episodes back to your planner.

I was updated last week and since then have had periodic "no signal" messages, losing signal on one of the two feeds. I know it's possible that it's coincidence and the weather has been intermittently bad but wondered if anyone else was seeing the same problem..?

I've just upgraded the hard drive in my white Pace box, in a perfect world my elderly Mother would be using the 2 terabyte HD box I bought her but it's far too complicated.

I hate this locked in corporate police state crap, 'error 6-06 please ring Sky' message when I tried to record, everything was going great too, just took the card out my HD box and all the channels were there, subscribed ones okay, too good to last.

Finally managed to get the drive to format via the front panel method, nothing in the installer's menu worked. Just watching the green light spin now, a 500gb drive.

I did notice however the channel lineup was changed, I assume this box has undergone a software update whereas my Mum's has not, I have Sky 1 HD where as she has normal Sky one there, that's confused me.

On a HD box, you will get the HD version in place of the SD version for a channel you can watch (BBC1/2/ITV/CH4/5 can be an exception, depending on where you live), which makes sense, as surely that would be the version you want to tune into.

So whether you are at home or at your mums, you would always go to 106 to get Sky1.

Thanks. I tend to use on demand quite a bit to avoid ads and squashed credit screens with a 'next on (channel)' voiceover playing over the closing theme.

So if for example I have three eps downloaded waiting to be watched, would deleting just episode 2 stop the prompt from showing up when watching episode 1, or would I need to delete both 2 and 3?

The only channels that will record on a Sky box with an unpaired subscription card are the FTA channels (BBC, ITV etc)

Using a card with an HD sub on it will always swap the subscription HD and SD channels regardless of whether or not it is and HD box - and obviously you will not be able to view HD channels on an SD box.

It's a multi-room set up, amid all my resets, rebuilds and factory resets I figured I'd updated my old white box as the cards are the same ones we've had for years. Same subscription but as you say she won't get the HD channels, either the card is tagged to know what box it is or vice-versa, bit odd seeing the TV Guide change.

It didn't go well anyhow, the formatting light kept turning - to my dismay a bloke on YT had it done and dusted in 15 seconds. Pulled the plug, try again when I have the patience.

No apparent glitches on my HD box after it's update a few days ago, thankfully.

What model of Pace Sky+ box is it and what HDD are you using? Is it an AV drive? With Sky+ boxes there were many problems of incompatibity of HDDs and IIRC 500 GB may be too large for the box.

You would need to delete episodes 2 and 3 as the software will just play back whatever the next item in the planner stack is.

Hmm that doesn't sound right, are you sure the current episode you were watching was a recording. You should not see the Watch Next prompt when playing back a recording made from linear TV channels, this functionality was disabled. However if you are currently playing back a downloaded episode and the next episode in the stack is a recording, then the prompt should still appear.

DRX280 on the back, drive is a Hitachi Deskstar HDP725050GLAT80 500GB, I read that a previous Sky software update removed the limit for formatting hard drives so was hoping this one would give her some much needed extra storage.

Give it another go when I can grab her scart lead, how quaint. F Connectors flying everywhere.

The DRX280 was made by Amstrad and NOT Pace. The HDD you are using is NOT an AV drive. It is definitely not recommended to use desktop PC HDDs in PVRs they can have all sorts of compatibilty problems particularly with cache sizes, error checking etc.

Thanks for the replies re the 'press green for next episode' prompt. Whilst it's not a bad idea in principle it's the sort of feature that I feel should be optional.

It was worth a try, there was only two that seemed to be tested and working by people and they were smaller drives.

Might nab the 2tb box for myself if she won't bother learning how to use it, I do think there is too much need to use the backup button on the guide, that's where she will get stuck.

Just tell her to press the "Sky" button, it always takes you straight back to normal viewing.

That button always came into its own on a HD box, it was a little different on an older box.

Has there been an update to remove the left directional button from taking you back to your last viewed channel? It doesn't seem to work for me anymore.
