This is very frustrating as neither RTÉ nor TV3 have a digital text service.
I haven't got the update yet but read in some of the forums a few weeks back about no analogue text on any channel since the update and some of them said they informed Sky, who said there was a few glitches/ bugs in the software that had to be sorted out. I remember the last update there was and I had the somewhat similar, a problem, the text was working but with a lot of letters and words missing.Don't know which problem would be the worse, no text or trying to fill in the blanks. No point in phoning Sky to complain as a lot of them are only bluffers and put you through a standard procedure, about turning box off at mains and then rebooting the digibox, a complete waste of phone call and waste of your time and money.

Dave_Dublin, I see you contributed already to this thread re teletext problems, more added following call to Sky. You might find my responses interesting.

According to the site the new EPG update started rolling out in April, yet my sister joined Sky last year (before Christmas) and her box (Pace) came with the new software already, as well as a remote that has the little speaker symbol on the 0 button. I know the software was already installed as when we pressed the help button the option to turn on subtitles was there and pressing the 0 button brought up the speaker symbol onscreen as well as three dashes for number entry. How come it's taken so long to start downloading it to those already subscribed?

I have a Grundig too, which was sent out as a replacement to my Pace box a few years ago when it stopped working.
No sign of the new software, yet.

Model number 2.64
Operating version 1.2S4F3
EPG version 3.2.11

Does any one know if with the new software the low battery warning is removed? I find that very annoying as it is always wrong. I have a couple of battery testers and whenever the warnings start I check the batteries and they always read as 75% good in both testers.

I am sure I read that some Grundig Boxes will not GET the new updates... Something to do with memory or something.. Can't remember where I read it, I am 99% sure it was on this forum.

If this is true, then I can't see it going down very well at all. If people are paying for the subscription then they should get any new software (which should be written to work with all boxes) or features, which I believe this update is in preparation for. I would imagine there are a very large number of subscribers with Grundig boxes as they were one of the boxes most often sent out.

That is (of course) total BS !

The reality is that all boxes require the OS update - in order to allow them to operate the new EPG systems (radio & TV) that will be introduced in the autumn!

Before saying something like this you must provide a link/backup what you say. This can cause confusion to customers as it is just based on something you have mis-understood/mis-read, etc...

I see a few Grundig's have now been updated (not mine yet). I seem to recall there was mention that updates were also on a geographical basis. Is this correct? Or it may of been something I heard when I was on ntl:

Funny how you ask a question in the FAQ thread that is answered on the very first post (my one, the FAQ!!)..

In fact this thread can be summed up as follows...

- When will...
- I've got the download...
- So have I
- So have I
- I've not...
- When will...

You are correct in that cable downloads are done regionally.

Yes, it is:
Q: I live in Surrey, when are Surrey getting the download for box xyz?
A: Downloads are done by box version not where you live

I asked because according to DIABOLIC, who lives in Southend-on-Sea, Essex, his two Grundig GDS210/2's have been updated, and it is a GDS210/2 that I have (according to the label on the underside). I live in Tamworth, some miles away from Essex, so just wondered if there was any sort of geographic's involved as well, since what Sky says isn't always correct.

They were telling me for 8 months that nothing was wrong when ever my picture kept blanking out and at times the whole system blanked out, but I was telling them that it occurred every time a car or truck went past my house and I suspected it was those snooper radar things. But Sky kept saying that was impossible as they do not emit any signal that could ever interfere with their signals, yet a few months after they then printed an article in their engineers only magazine (kindly shown to me by an engineer) saying the very same thing I had been telling them for 8 months. Had to have the dish moved to the back of the house in the end, on a great big T-bracket so that it is over the guttering, but the signal is still affected by those (now legal) snooper things.

Slightly off topic but my reciever at work is used for the Radio (Caroline in fact) & it always briefly cuts out when a customers diesel car starts up - guessing its emc from the engine.
