The new software is available as a forced download now if you have not yet automatically received it ( like my boxes) all forced up to date now

If you leave it to update automatically you could be waiting several weeks before your box updates. |

You can force it now if you want, should take about 10 minutes.

As someone who has updated hundreds (if not thousands) of boxes, only 10 minutes is a pretty optimistic estimate

If you carry out the forced update now, the box will pull down R014.083.61.00P . There is a slightly newer release called R014.083.64.00P which started to rollout this week, so when your box is targeted for the automatic update it will be targeted with that release. And since R014.083.64.00P should be signed higher than R014.083.61.00P, your box will switch software again. |

A problem.
Before I forced update the box, I decided to record the Olympics to ensure that the box was ready when the record light came on after the update. After the update, I founded that the programme was not deleting, any help? I also have the Sky+app, everytime I try to sign in, instead of saying sign out, it says sign in, again any help? |

Installers menu
Has the installers menu been taken out in the updated software or is there a new way to get to it as 01select is no longer working on my box since update?
No need to get into the installers menu, just intreagued. |

If you only want to do a planner rebuild, it's now available in the Help tile in the Services menu, you don't need to go into the installers' menu any more, which is a great improvement IMO.

Arrived today on our 2 Tb box but not on the smaller multiroom box as yet so will be able to compare both versions. Seems okay so far. More like Sky Q in appearance, which I guess is partly the point.

Actually I came here to post question about missing installers menu, but I see it has been answered already . This change was not on the list of changes on the screen Sky shows after the update. I suppose its the way of the world now, keep on adding software facilities that only a small proportion of users need that cripples folk who just want a crisp basic facility on a slightly outdated but perfectly usable hardware environment. Is it time for a "lite" version of the software??? ...oh wait a minute...there is one on a Linux platform....but I'm a bit too old for that learning curve.

The new "home page" is awful, don't like how small the main tiles are, for me the TV Guide tile is the most important and I've no interest whatsoever in "Top Picks" or even OnDemand. Hope this change is optional via settings/customise.

Also, in the Planner section there's a new category of 'Continue' taking the second spot which is utterly pointless. People are quite capable of finding where they last left a programme viewed and don't need a special section for it. Furthermore, the blue line indicating how much of a programme one's viewed already is visually irritating I find. |

Shame there's no option to remove Top Picks from home page.

I completely agree with this - I can't stand the changes made. The tiles are too small and I don't appreciate either their Hot Picks which take up a lot of the page space.
But I had no programmes at all part watched and it was filling up every day with shows and I realised its real purpose - not just to watch a half watched programme (as these always started from the point you left off anyway so that would be pointless). Rather it puts into there the next episode of any show you have recently watched IF that next episode is in your planner. I recorded EastEnders to watch on catch up a few minutes later and it put the next recorded episode of EastEnders in there. We watched an episode of Bones from the stack of the last half dozen of so of the recent series we had recorded but not yet watched and it lined up in that tab the next one out of the others still recorded to be watched, So this is its real purpose. Though how useful it will be to people will vary individually I guess. The blurb by the tab does explain this if you read it all the way through. |
