Yep.. It's nice to be able to turn subtitles on/off without interrupting the programme.

Sky are actually recalling all of the boxes that have been upgraded and downgrading them again. They have issued a warning that anybody who still has the new updated software should contact them straight away. Apparently this new upgrade causes severe problems with the boxes and eventually leads them to go into a permanent stand by mode state (if your box hasn't died on you yet and you have the new updated software my advice would be to CALL SKY).

My box was fortunately NEVER updated with the dodgy software (phew!)

I have an old Amstrad DRX100 which I have had to use again because my Panny failed. It has EPG version 3.2.1.1. This box has not been used in about 3 years I wondered if it has missed to many past updates? of if the Amstrad DRX100 is too old to recieve the updates? I have carried out several forced updates to no avail

Mr Rubber, you did read my other post in this topic right? As for the update getting to you box now YOU WON'T GET IT, neither will anybody else who have fortunately not received their new software updates either due to the mere fact that SKY have permanently stopped upgrade procedures from reaching any further boxes due to the new software being severely corrupted.

Rhinestone can you show me the source please for the recall and that the epg upgrade is a problem in anything other than sky+

Cheers

Mr Rubber CALL SKY UP and go through to the technical team then ask them yourself, they will tell you everything I already have.

RHINESTONE after reading your post on Sunday I contacted Sky Technical who knew nothing about the update problem. My Panasonic DU-30 box has had the new software for about 2 months with no problems but obviously if its going to go into permanent standby I want to do something about the matter. Any suggestions?

Rhinestone may be referring to the few sky+ boxes that got the update for testing, rather than the millions of normal boxes.

I have no idea what Rhinestone is talking about, a friend works for Sky in Osterley, West London and he is still running Sky+1.30n and certainly has not had an e-mail about any recall.

He says (in his words) - 'He is talking bollocks'

Hey BackStagePass

Does you friend from Osterley say how long will the testing phase usually last... A week, 2 weeks, a Month, 6-weeks etc.

Hi, just called him and he says he is not privvy to that info..

I asked him again about Rhinestone comments and he asked around and his original quote seems to stand.

Not sure why Rhinestone is spreading false rumours

Is the software update your mate from Osterley got fully functional with no problems?

Is there any new functions to sky+ version of update?
(hope there is but I can't see being any new additional functionality)

BackStagePass thanks for answering last question!!!

Yes everyone will get the update, you just all have to be patient.

Can people stop asking when their box will be updated, or if it already has. Just be patient.
