He must be an attention seeker because no software has been recalled.

A software download would never kill a box outright. Even if a software download did happen which turned out to having something which caused stability issues they would just download a fixed version.

As I said before I am not sure why they posted this mis-information as it just confuses/annoys people

Does sound like a bit of a troll.

Unfortunately, that isn't necessarily true. The box has to accept and install the update. If the box is locked up because of a previously bad update, it may never be able to accept another update.

That is completely CORRECT, sorry everyone! the lady on the other end of the phone when I called SKY carelessly forgot to mention to me the clear facts about the upgrade problems being accidental TEST software downloads etc and not the REAL thing.

"I can now look forward to getting my updated software again then!"

Mine has, now running 3.3.a.6. As of when I'm not sure, my Pace 2200 is running 3.2.11 after a forced update a few days ago...

I did explain myself (I obviously didn't acknowledge what you previously posted regarding sky+)

All I can do is APOLOGISE so again "i'm sorry everybody!" especially to YOU Mr Rubber.

Sorry if this has been mentioned before, but on Sky's interactive service on 998, they're proudly promoting that the new software means you can get Now & Next information for radio channels.

Just wondering if anyone has actually got this, as I certainly haven't, even though I have received the software update.

I had my Pace box replaced this morning with an Amstrad (no problems yet ).

It does NOT have the new software, despite the engineer going through the whole installation and setup, including "updating software" - well, that's what it said on the screen.

So I have the following:
version 4F2001
1.31.A08
EPG 1.28d

Bottom line: why would a newly installed box NOT have the "upgraded software" unless Sky HAS actually withdrawn the software and reverted to the older version?

Possible because it was made before the update came out?

OK, but surely when the engineer went through the installation process (which included a process which showed on the screen as "updating software"), if there had been a newer software version available, it WOULD have updated it???

Or are my blonde roots showing?

I'm sure if the updated software was out for that model then it would have updated to the latest software. However if that model hasnt been updated yet then the next latest software would be put on.....im guessing.

They are using the new EPG visuals on Customer Channel and in the magazines - so it must be imminent I would imagine. : )

I can hear my my Sky+ 160 sometimes start up when it's in standby for a few mins, everytime it does this I think I'm about to get the software update!
I suppose I will get it eventually!
Simon.

I don't think forcing a 'software download' on a Sky+ 160 will get the new software update.

I will just have to wait for Sky to sent it to me...
