Emmerdale - Is Neil Grayling Vanessa's dad?

A few weeks ago Vanessa revealed that her dad is in prison when she thought he had left her the money. This seemed a bit random for just a one off mention and she said that he had done 'horrible things.' Now Harriet keeps on saying about the 'horrible things' this prisoner has done.

I'm not sure if he'd be convincing as her dad though - even though Vanessa is 39 and the actor James Gaddas is 55 so it should work. I think he looks quite good for his age though.

Pretty sure he will turn out to be Vanessa's Dad, yes. It was too random of Vanessa to mention it, otherwise.

eta: I reckon he'll get out, and threaten Harriet in some way. Maybe Vanessa will have to take him in.

If he is, I dread to think what he'll do to smokin' hot Rakesh when he finds out that he duped Vanessa into believing Adumb was her baby daddy!!

That guy looks way too young to be Vanessa's dad, but given the fact there is less than 10 years between Pete and Psycho Mama Barton he probably is her dad.

The guy Harriet was talking about was Ged. Is Ged a derivation of Neil now?

I was confused about that as well. The guy who attacked Bob in prison is definitely credited as Ged.

eta: apparently Neil Grayling is the name of the character he played in Bad Girls. Shows what I know.

I think Vanessa looks quite young though, and the guy playing her Dad could easily pass.

I didnt' think the ages of the Bartons had ever been specified? There is 13 years between the actress Gillian Kierney (43) and the guy playing Pete, Anthony Quinlan (30).

There is no way Pete is 30, dude looks about 35. And the Barton's ages were specified twice once during Finn's bday party where the truth about Adam came out and then later on they mentioned their ages and de-SORASed them when Emma came on.

Oh right ok, I never noticed them mentioning ages, and note that it's been a huge bone of contention on here. I myself commented when she was cast that the amazing Gillian Kearney looked far too young to be their mother, as well as being a VERY odd match to old man James!!

Not sure about Quinlans real age, his online profile lists him as 30 and to be fair, he does seem to have aged quite a lot since he played Gilly in HO, he looked much younger with a slimmer frame, and longer hair.

They didn't specify their ages, but in that video that revealed the affair the kids were shown fin was a toddler Ross was about 6 or 7 and Pete was around 10 or 12. It also showed Ross dancing to "I'm too sexy" which is an early 90's song and Emma was there fighting with James. So all that would put the characters around approximate age of the actors. Then when Emma came in they said Emma came back years later when Pete was about 12 and Pete told her to stay away.

How would Harriett know that? She barely knows Vanessa and Vanessa has said previously that she and her father are estranged.

Neil Gayling to me

If he ever does arrive in the village as Vanessa's dad, I could see him having a connection with Lawrence. That's if he turns out gay in this too

Yes! Can't be Jed though. He said his daughter was 16. I could have sworn those stories would be connected, but I was wrong.

I originally thought that Ged may be Vanessa's dad, as his surname was not revealed in the credits. But he only mentioned a teen daughter, to Bob.

Unless he has disowned his eldest kid, Vanessa.
