More schedule changes. Radio Today is reporting Alex James will take over the 1000 to 1400 hrs slot on Radio City whilst Darren Spence ex Juice FM will take over Viking Drive Time.

http://radiotoday.co.uk/2016/01/more...city-stations/

One wonders if Alex James appointment might be the start of the rumoured networking of this slot eventually?

I also caught little bits of Rossie's breakfast show this week and noted it was far more interactive, and had Simmo on the traffic and travel etc. One thing I did catch is that he said he would be hosting a programme on City Talk at 0600 hrs on Sunday morning, which at the moment is not even showing on schedule.

I dont think it is the start of networking as Key 103 have just got a new presenter for the 10-2 slot.

Great news for Alex finally getting a permanent slot after being the cover presenter for the last year or so

Ex XFM Scotland breakfast presenter Fraser Thomson has been doing cover on Northsound 1 this week. Wonder if he will be joining a bauer station in the future

Tom Davies is on City 2 this morning instead of Ditchy. Strangely his name was previously shown as David when on air, but this morning when he is not on it shows Ditchy! I wonder were the local four hours of local content will turn up today?

Meanwhile, over on Talk, the Anfield Wrap appears to have been replaced by The Rock & Goal Years which is scheduled for 1100 to 1200hrs.

Changes to The Hits on Saturdays and Sundays from today:
Winners are automation, Josh Collins and Will Manning
Losers are James Barr, Luke Franks and Michael Blades

Saturdays:
00:00-08:00 Automation (previously until 07:00 only)
08:00-12:00 Wake Up With Will Manning (extended by an hour, starting an hour later - name probably now more appropriate for the target audience)
12:00:-16:00 James Hall (no change to length)
16:00-20:00 Josh Collins (taken from Olivia Jones)
20:00-00:00 Hitmix with James Everton (no change)

Sundays:
As above until
12:00-16:00 Olivia Jones (taken from Luke Franks)
16:00-19:00 Big Top 40
19:00 onwards as previously

Gavin Matthews has definitely changed on Radio City 2 Liverpool at the moment, he seems to be doing a brilliant impression of Claire Simonsen.

This must be a fairly short term measure...ie a year or so. I find Alex to be a very bland presenter - having said that if it is to simply link tracks (20 second links 3 times an hour) that may be what they are after? I presume he is going to be live and not voicetracked?...

I tend to agree. I'm sure he will be live, but my guess is it will be from Manchester. Remember we were told Darren Proctor was joining Radio City 2 only to find a month later his programme is to be networked which probably means it was and remains live from Manchester.

Am sure a radiotoday.co.uk article that announced Darren Proctor would be networked across the England City 2 Network said he would be live from St Johns Tower

Darren still comes from Key 103 and he does the 2 O'Clock Anthems show from there, Radio City have Lee Butler doing it for them.

I have a small question regarding Lee Butler.

I am lead to believe he is on breakfast from 9.30-10. What does he do on it?

Also is Radio City's 2o clock anthems the same as Key 103 etc, or does it have more dance music?

It's an item called the 'Breakfast Butler' that goes out at 9:30 every day, 15 minutes of dance and old skool mixed by Lee Butler. It's pre recorded (probably several days worth at a time), they've been doing it since the current breakfast show started a couple of years ago.

the 2-3pm thing on BC2 stations is different- older music- I listened to a little bit of it- about 10 mins one day and the next day and they played the same Mike and Mechanics songs that some Liverpudlian man had requested, because they played his phone call over the start of it.

There seems to be 2 versions a Scottish and English version with different requests.

Also is there a presenter on the English version

I hope the absence of England's Talk-in is temporary. My Sunday morning shifts aren't as enjoyable without it.

They know how to shoot themselves in the foot. Replace a respected local voice with a boring nobody.

I think the Sunday talk-in will done now- and Tom is now on weekend breakfast so.....

I tuned in also this afternoon for the 80's thing 1-4pm, Tony Shepherd was still there but playing the normal playlist stuff so tuned out again, the station had a weekend 80's show for years ever since it was Magic , going back at least 14/15 years.

Now at weekends there seems to be a right mishmash of presenters on the English stations anyway, I wonder how BC2 will do in the Rajars this coming year?!
