Ulitmately it doesn't matter if "the bosses quite liked Boogie" as it will be down to ratings and listener reaction.

The Bauer Awards are just a bit of internal nonsense and PR, not to be taken seriously.
True maybe the last set of Radjars or the fact Dingo has moved to Australia was enough for Bauer to scrap Boogie in Scotland.

Also I think a few people werent happy that the majority of the callers were Scottish but that was the case with Paddy's show when it was on in Scotland it had a lot of Scottish callers.

Amen to that - we always used to laugh about the amount of times Radio Aire won station of the year (or similar) despite being on its arse in terms of both audience and revenue.

They're an internal PR exercise and a morale boost (and a good excuse for a pissup). They're also a useful tax write off. No harm in any of that of course....

The Saturday morning show is having a small ckhange as Dingo has moved back to Australia so from now on Boogie will be presenting with Arlene Stuart (who he also hosts the Forth 1 Breakfast show with )
This court me out this morning, usually wake up to it on Rock FM but today it was back to back music with very little presenter input - thought they must be on a break, did some digging around the Internet stations to see if they were still of Forth - now back to normal Rock FM ditched now on Saturday mornings for Forth

Some strange changes this week on the city 3/ The hits stations.

On Monday James Hall who does 11-3 was doing Josh collins 7 -10 slot and Josh did 11-3

Then on Thursday Olivia who does 3-7 is doing 11-3 while James does her slot is that not a bit unusual for presenter to swap slots

Next Wednesday Bauer brings some of their radio stations together for the Brit awards. Kiss, hear and the city network will be broadcasting it.

I am actually surprised Stu and Kelly havent got the 9-12 slot in England as they seem more suited to that slot than the Saturday breakfast slot.

Paddy is only on in England now. Scotland has Ewan and Cat on a Sunday Morning.

The next shows that could get split is the Saturday night shows e.g OSA and Saturday Night Experience
Stu and Kelly seem to be on 9-12 on Sats now. I caught a bit this morning and they referred to it as their new slot. I think Alex James was on before 9 but I wasn't really concentrating on the radio when I was driving!

I don't mind Paddy McGuinness but my 9 year old daughter says he talks too much. Believe me when I say that is rich coming from her!

I always wonder why they don't network Freejack on Sunday afternoon. He seems to get a lot of people listening in online from outside Rock FM's area.

That is better that Alex is on breakfast as Stu and Kelly's show has lots of games etc.

Freejack cant get networked as 12-4 is a local slot

Alex James is the perfect kind of presenter for Saturday breakfast and Stu and Kelly are great 9-12 and as good as Boogie and Arlene for England.

Rock can't network Freejack because every station needs to have four hours of local a day.

I like Alex James. I know he's bland to a lot of people but I find his style quite warm and welcoming. If that's bland, then I am too!

Didn't realise about afternoons being a local slot. He's been on other slots before but they too may have been local ones. He certainly seems to be popular with a lot of people out of the area so maybe they'll move him at some point in the future if his appeal is more widespread.

Yeah I am also a fan of Alex, last week when he did 9-12 he did seem very bland, but that was in comparison to Boogie and Dingo who were probably the most entertaining ones. He's much more suited to Saturday breakfast and I really like him on that slot.

He used to do Sunday nights on Rock so he could get that back if they were to network him, I occasionally tune into his Classic Cuts show and it's good, would be better than Michael Blades on a Sunday night, but I can't see it happening.

The Boogie baby has been born so Boogie isnt on today. Instead it will be Greigsy and Arlene from 9-12. Followed by Mark Martin on the Hot 20 covering for Greigsy from 12-2

Just Greigsy on his own this morning. But he is doing a really good job. Really entertaining just as good as Boogie.

Would have been good if Arlene was on to talk about Boogie's baby but I take it she hasnt worked with Greigsy before so it probably wouldnt have worked.

It was Ellie Brennan's last show on the network last Friday night 10-1, anyone know who's taking it over?

Would love it if Krystle got her show back! I think she was axed in favour of the English shows. It's odd how Bauer go back to playlisted stuff before 1am. Krystle (or a specialist show) would fit in well.

They could network Freejack's Classic Cuts if they created a new Rock FM only show in another slot though, say on Sunday evenings again which is where they used to have Freejack.

Great to hear some proper local radio on Bauer radio this afternoon.

Radio city have breakfast presenter Dave and Leanne live from Wembley way before the football. Then from 4pm Radio City have live commentary of the game.

Key 103 have Fiona Sadler building up to the final then from 4pm Adam Cole is live from The Crown in Bredbury for Man City's cup final!

Although networked shows are ok. Some of them that come from England don't always seem to work up here in Scotland.
I'm more for regional or local radio shows.
I do still listen to the likes of Forth 1 but not as much as I used to a good few years back.
I'm more for Bauers Scottish AM network and at times Kingdom FM or Heart Scotland.

I think network shows be it Scotland/ England only or across the network really need good presenters to be successful. Someone with a bit of personality.

I liked Paddy but he just didnt work with a everyone. While Ewen and Cat have a wider appeal and I suppose people can relate to them more.

The Friday/Saturday network shows are now the only shows across the network bar overnights. I get why they have these network shows as there are less radio listeners on a Friday/ Saturday night and it saves money but they just dont appeal to me.

Nice to see Friday nights become separate across the network as Ryan Bothwick began presenting 10pm - 1am on Bauer City 1 Scotland tonight.

Have to say Radio Borders must be popular with the Bauer bosses as two of their presenters, Gregor Runciman and Ryan have been handed network shows in recemt weeks.

Gregor is back on the network in Scotland this week covering for Knoxy on the Evening Show.

He must be liked as Fiona Shields used to be the cover presenter for Greigsy when he did the Evening Show.

I don't think Paddy's show worked in Scotland because there just wasn't enough discipline in the production of it. Whereas if you listen to the equivalent Heart show at that time of the morning with Stephen Mulhern and Emma Willis, they were given enough room to show a bit of personality but not so much they rambled on forever, or went on about stuff local to them which didn't matter to anyone else (a Paddy link about a seaside resort in the north of England being a particular lowlight - that doesn't matter if he does it on ITV, it does if someone's listening to Clyde 1). The trick with the Heart show seemed to be giving personality to those who wanted it without intruding into the music for those who weren't bothered, or just wanted someone to chat but get off quickly. It's quite a skill actually.

I also feel - with apologies to viewers in the north of England - that there's less appeal to shows being networked from Manchester than there is from London. See also Galaxy and Real Radio vs Heart and Capital. There's at least some perceived glamour to having big name presenters in London versus jocks who just happened to be in Manchester when the decision was taken to network the show.

I wonder if there's a little bit of succession planning going on with the decision to acquire Ewen and Cat and the decision to move Greigsy to Clyde. There really doesn't seem to be any rush to move George Bowie out of the breakfast seat, he is still Mr Glasgow and the west and hugely successful, but it doesn't hurt to have a strong line-up on your flagship station.
