I moan simply because it sounds like a complete bag of crap, Sadly Bauer and EMAP before them have completely destroyed a once great Radio City, alas until recently I wasn't all that bothered as I simply stopped listening and moved to Real, cue Global destroying that by turning it into the crap that is Heart. Mo matter I simply retuned to Juice FM only for the suits at Global to strike again.
So it's effectively City or City 2 I am left with now and cannot beleive how much of a missed opportunity Bauer have made by not capitalising on Juices demise, Citys figures are certain to continue to drop with it's bland lack of identity. Ironically City 2 has a much greater ID with it's sung jingles referencing the station name and Rossie at breakfast is a much greater personality than the dross on City. I don't think it will be long before City 2 eclipses City in RAJAR. All the talk of Bauer being interested in Free Radio, I feel sorry for the people in the midlands, from what I hear of Free when driving through, it's output is way ahead of anything that goes out on the City 1 network. |

The problem with Bauer is they try to make their USP "Place" but then fill it with a lot of networked programming. As I've commented before on these threads they either need to crap or get off the pot. Invest in dedicated programming at least 6am-7pm seven days a week or don't bother trying to pretend you've cornered the market in local.

In fairness radio city is local from 6am - 7pm mon to fri, the problem is it sounds rubbish. Breakfast is weak, Alex James is weak Lee Butler is fairly decent and all I ever hear from Scot Hughes is promo spiel for crappy competitions and the other city stations.

I thought Alex James was a strange choice to replace Rossie as before he was just a cover presenter. Lee Butler has done well recently and has a good number of shows on the station. I think all the stations do that with competitions etc |

Leanne was poached from Juice, but compared to the Juice big breakfast L&D is dull and lifeless. I'd imagine what is on capital now is too as per global policy.

L+D are a better listen in my opinion, however I could listen to Capital if you didn't have the same song every 10 mins.
I listened (dare I say it) to Wirral Radio last weekend, Kev seed was back on. His style eclipses anything on the radio, a proper DJ who can engage the listeners. Yes the ego is still there, but its his style which kept him on the air for so long in Liverpool. I hope this is his way back into something bigger as the radio needs these sort of DJ's... Wirral Radio is sounding better then it used to, still very "community" in places, but its good old fashioned radio, decent choice of music not beholding to any large corporate group, and THAT is the difference. I really do feel sorry for DJ's with talent these days as they are not allowed to show what they can do given all the rules they have to stick by. Bauer and Capital should give their flag ship shows free reign as you can tell the frustrations with the DJ's practically being told what they have to do and when.. Clearly though, the listener isn't listened to, and even if the Rajars fall, the big groups will have an answer for it, it was within expectations etc etc... |

Radio Aire's fairly new breakfast show is coming to an end, with Stu Elmore moving to drivetime, whilst Kelly Pegg remains with Simon Morykin temporarily replacing Stu. Simon will still present his 10am slot on Hallam. http://radiotoday.co.uk/2016/05/brea...or-radio-aire/

I predict some changes at Bauer Management level – I cannot imagine the top brass of a company this size will allow the Radio Aire debacle to continue in the way it has done
In Liverpool havnt they got a new Executive Producer for the Breakfast Show? (it was advertised!) No doubt his or her job will be to whip things into shape ! |

Radio Today reporting that Connor Philips moving from Radio Aire Drive to the North West, which would allow him to take the same show on City, moving Scott to Midmornings which might be a stronger line up.
From that brunch he wont be going to CFM or Key so possibly Rock fm or Radio city as you have said above |

Thing is they may as well just automate the lot. Scott Hughes is a great personally as he demonstrated during his first stint at City with his Evening Therapy show then drive when that was axed to networked tripe. He then went to Real with Glen Hunt and did some great radio. Now he's back on City he sounds like he's just run over his cat.
Why employ people with a personality and force them to read a boring script in between the computer playing out some crap music? |

Bank Holidays.
On some threads everyone moans it is same old TV. Radio station tries to offer a simple change, on a regular feature and we moan about the name. Was (un)lucky to be working Monday. Our bland FM at 2pm was playing the usual songs over and over. Then at 6pm it was Disco feel good stuff (which I cannot stand) thank goodness the department manager football nut had a DAB to drown out the same old songs FM. Done right I assume a 10@10 sounds like a countdown type show, meaning unless you skip songs outside station comfort zone your going to play different songs to the norm. The name may stick but it's the music that matters. All stations should be doing things differently from usual on bank holiday Monday’s, not just some of them. Problem is, these radio groups are huge, and for that reason they believe they have the "winning formula" so won't change unless they are hit in the pockets, or suffer with major listener loss... |

Does anyone know if Tom still does his shows from Metro Radio2 studios in Newcastle- as he only has weekend breakfast now (English stations) and is cover man, or did he have to go down to KEY studios in Deansgate?

I have had Clyde 1 on a lot the last few days and they are running a big competition called Bowie's Whats that noise but it seems that it is going around the stations as Forth and Radio City have all ran the competition over the last few weeks or so.
Will Bauer continue to put this out on all there city 1 stations |
