Radio Borders has opted out of both the Big Bad Saturday Show and Scotland's Hot 20 today to cover the Golden Ticket day on the Borders Railway, which starts passenger services tomorrow.
Shows the stations can still do local things when required

A month, gee, oh well i need to tune in tomorrow, if im up lol

Also, If Global hand back xfm, i dont think ofcom will readvertise it.
Theres talk the new to be GO radio are wanting it.
Would also be good for RockSport
I think the frequency would be good for clyde 2 but Go Radio are sure wanting to make a name for themselves. Wouldnt be surprised if Fraser and Jim from xfm appear on Go radik

It seems that Grant Thomson has quietly taken over the Old Skool and Anthems show in the afternoon

Very quietly. Apart from the big press release that went out. And the show trails. And other jocks promoting the show.

I also have to say as much as I liked Paddy McGuinness and I still dip in to it on key 103. But listening to Ewen and Cat on the scottish Bauer stations it is was a great decision to bring them in. It is a much nicer show for a Sunday morning and is really funny.

Was quite funny reading Cat's Sunday Mail page and she said her and Ewen got funny looks from George Bowie and Producer Dingo as they thought they were at clyde to talk about taking over the clyde 1 breakfast show before they realised Ewen and Cat would be doing Sundays.

But I think Ewen and Cat would be great replacements if George Bowie left

.... and so far it's not sounding that much different!!!

Some Tartan Techno please, otherwise you'd be as well just giving us the Manc show again!

One thing that Bauer are really good at is regular staff reshuffles.

Three examples from the last month.

What changes do Absolute need to make to prevent listeners moving to the new Radio X?

See this as the big battle in commercial radio over the next year.

Concentrate on Absolute, and move the 'decade' stations to a different brand to help end the music snobbery on them!

Anyone know who will take over Metro/TFM's Home Run and Sunday afternoons from next week when Stu and Kelly go to Radio Aire?

On Metro and TFM today, they are not carrying their normal networked programmes and have a special program called 'Live for the Morrisons Great North Run Weekend' from 08:00-18:00. The programme also airs tomorrow from 06:00-19:00; when Michael Blades' evening show is dropped in favour of a 'Best of' show from the weekend.

I don't know who else is presenting, but Alex Duffy is doing 12:00-15:00 today and 12:00-16:00 tomorrow.

EDIT: Tony Shepherd is on now as of 15:00. Neither him or Alex usually present on TFM/Metro.

Tony Shephard does the late show on the Bauer city 1 stations in England from 10 except Tfm / metro as they have night owls.

Great to see opt outs like this when there is a big event in the area of the bauer stations

Also Grant Thomson is on Forth 1 in for Grant Stott this morning from 10am - 2pm dont know if he is doing the show from Clyde's studios or if he is in Edinburgh but unless he has pre recorded Old Skool and Anthems I dont know how he will get back to Clyde's studios for the home run

I listen to Absolute 90s and they play a lot of pop/dance, so is broader range of genres than the main station. But agree unless you have tried you probably think they are all rock stations so maybe they need to be Bauer 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, 00s?

Why would you change the branding? How many average listeners know what or who "bauer" is?

Not many people. I think the Absolute brands are good the only other option they have is if they rebranded them with the name magic e.g Magic 60's

Thanks for that Jimmy.

I think Stu was doing the Great North Run so maybe that was a reason for the delay.

It is a bit of a risk them launching the new show on the same day as Chris Moyles starts on radio x but I suppose the audiences are different. But there will be some people who will check Chris out his first show rather than listen to radio Aire
