The Scottish stations are doing really well in comparision to the English stations.
Any guesses why the Scottish stations are doing better? I think the Heart rebrand has helped them, the City 1 stations are positioned more to an 'all day' office environment now, and Heart is just a bit of a car crash. Real Radio, when it was truly local, was heard in shops, offices, etc, all over the central belt |

Because it wouldn't sound quite as good coming from an empty club at 7pm perhaps?

Well, I think we probably suspected this with such a sudden departure, yet another controversy for Key about the way she was pushed out of the door so quickly after an early return from maternity, coming after all the Heartless Hotline stuff, making a national newspaper again.
With regards to the show, I can't help but feel Key have made a mistake here. I always preferred Chelsea over Mike, and I don't think getting rid of her particularly changes the breakfast show, as they've still got the main host, just a few stand-ins alongside him. I'd have kept Chelsea and replaced Mike with someone like Adam Catterall or Darren Proctor, who Key listeners can really warm to and who would really refresh the show, and maybe even get the figures up a bit, or at least stable. |

I bet social media won,t be happy about Chelsea now, why did they have to do that I don,t know, do you think Key 103 will have a future?
Yes certainly Key 103 has a future as it's still a big name and in a big city, figures aren't great anymore but it's about making the right changes to get them back up rather than closing the station, which would be a crazy decision and it won't happen. Sadly I don't think getting rid of Chelsea is the answer, very harsh decision on a great co-host. |

Its a strange decision to get rid of her like I say, putting a few Corrie Stars alongside Mike isn't going to really change the breakfast show when the main host is still there. And yep you're right it's not gone down well on social media, yet again in the headlines for the wrong reasons.

Yes correct, Chelsea was a fantastic presenter she had very good interaction with callers etc, maybe there just using guest co presenters for now in till a solution is found.

Agree with you, it's certainly possible they'll keep using the soap stars permanently as they're well known in the hope they'll attract listeners.

A few weeks later, people had gotten over it and forgot. It's only radio...nobody died. |

This morning Alan Shaw the West fm home run presenter is doing breakfast and it seems he will be doing it for the time being.
At the moment that leaves West FM with no presenter in a regular slot as Fraser Thomson has been covering the 10am - 2pm since Michael Smith left and Billy Reid is covering the home run. |

Debbie Mac moving to 10am - 2pm and Adam Cole from 3pm - 7pm. There's a bit of a presenter shortage at The Hits at the moment. James Hall doesn't have a replacement and Josh Collins has been on daytimes since James left and that's has left the evening show in automation. This week, both Tom Green and Olivia Jones are off. Fat is on breakfast this week and most likely also next week. He returns to overnights on 29th August but we don't know if that's Scotland only or also England. This week Josh Collins is on drivetime and Michael Blades is on daytimes. There's a Callum covering for Olivia on Sunday afternoon, I think it's most likely Callum Gallacher. Going forward, it may be good to keep overnights as they are at the moment and have Fat on Sunday to Thursday evenings on The Hits. As there's no late show, it would be good to extend the evening show by an hour to 19:00-23:00. Then the schedule would be breakfast with Tom Green, daytimes with Josh Collins, Olivia Jones at drivetime and Fat on evenings. As an alternative, promote Jamie Lee from weekend breakfast to a weekday show or he could do Monday to Wednesday late shows in addition to weekend breakfast. |

When is this change happening? It's Coley on air now and the schedule looks like it will be the same all week.

The Hits is definitely a problem, and a lot of shows seem to be recorded. Michael Blades on daytime must be recorded this week as he's doing Radio Aire breakfast also. I can't say I ever listen to it, but could definitely see Fat moving there, especially as he's been taken off England overnights. The move to put Jack Wood on in England could be a trial to see if he can replace Fat across the whole network once he moves to The Hits? |

Michael Smith doing the overnights for 4 weeks, this being week 3, wonder if they could bring him back, or maybe even Fiona Shields who seems to have disappeared? Maybe Fraser could be tempted by breakfast. |

Dave Kelly on the 2 O'Clock Anthems covering for Darren Proctor this week, presumably won't cover the Saturday Anthems show as his Floorfillers is on the Saturday night. Wonder if he's coming from Manchester or Liverpool?
