Quite unexpected...

This release includes improvements and fixes to Apple Music.
Resolves issues that could prevent turning on iCloud Music Library
Resolves an issue that hides added music because Apple Music was set to show offline music only
Provides a way to add songs to a new playlist if there aren’t any playlists to choose from
Resolves an issue that may show different artwork for an album on other devices
Resolves several issues for artists while posting to Connect
Fixes an issue where tapping Love doesn’t work as expected while listening to Beats 1

You'd think they'd add the 'shuffle all' feature back in to the music app rather than make people wait for iOS 9 for it.

After the update I've now suddenly got loads of random tracks added to My Music.

Apple changed the way that it displayed compilations in the initial release. so music tagged as part of a compilation would not show up when you selected albums. you had to manually select compliations to view them. they seemed to of changed it back now in 8.4.1...
you might not of noticed that some of your music was missing like i did?

Even if not you'll get a nice music playing while that happens

no random songs for me but it's been randomly deciding i have X amount of missed calls when i actually don't.

looked this morning to see I'd apparently missed 7 calls from a friend of mine and I checked the call history and hadn't had a single call today

You might not have the actual 'Shuffle All' button back yet, but there still at least a couple of ways to play your music randomly. You can start any song playing and just make sure the shuffle button is selected in the Now Playing screen. Or you can ask Siri to shuffle all of your music. I know that a button is better, but it's really a very, very minor omission when there are other ways to do it.

i'm aware of the other ways to play the music, but it just seems like a bit of a silly omission to remove it from the main music library but leave it on the playlists.

And I don't use Siri - i'd get too embarrassed talking to my phone on the bus

Nope hasn't made any difference what so ever on my iPhone 6, as soon as I start using the phone it just drops, hope ios9 improves it so it's at least as good as iOS 8.3 was

I never understand why Apple doesn't uncouple the apps, so they can be updated as and when rather than requiring a full point release.

They don't need to as they control the OS and apps as one unit - unlike Android, where the OS is modified by each vendor, and the apps are Google's.

Nothing stopping Apple shipping iOS 8.4.2 as a 10mb delta update that just updates an app if they absolutely needed to.

No, not just you.
Add me as another person who has never seen this alleged "battery problem" with 8.4!

Me neither. In the past (as in several iPhone and iOS versions ago) I have occasionally had noticeable battery drain issues but they were nearly always down to a rogue app doing stuff in the background it wasn't supposed to. In persistant cases restoring the iPhone as new (not from a backup) should resolve any problems and as so much stuff is backed up via the cloud these days it doesn't necessarily mean having to set everything up all over again.

I'm confused because there are 4 people above that don't seem to have any battery drain issues with iOS 8.4 however online there are pages and pages of people complaining about serious battery problems since updating iOS 8.3 to iOS 8.4.

My iPhone 6 is still on iOS 8.3 and tbh I have NO idea what to do for the best update the software or not?!

Software problems with something as widely used as iOS are typically down to the specific configuration of a particular device.

e.g. the problem might only happen when the phone is configured to use some types of corporate email accounts which not everyone has.

I've moved on to iOS 9b3, battery life is extremely good on that as well. This version seems pretty close to the finished article, I have yet to find any bugs with it.

I'm confused because........!
Somewhere in those lines we must have people employed in the Work and Pensions offices.

Tracy likely knows.

It could possibly be to do with the different batches of iPhones with different model numbers. My old iPhone 5 was in the batch that qualified for a free battery replacement, but plenty also weren't.

I actually found 9b3 started acting a little weirdly for me. The music player would sometimes hang completely and wouldn't even work if i swiped up on it. I'd often have to reboot the phone to get it going again.

It happened enough times to ultimately make me go back to 8.4.1.

It just shows how phone setup can influence reliability.

I use the Music app every day, usually for around 3-4 hours, I haven't had a single issue with it in my usage.

I also use the music app every day for the same length of time - even to the point where i'd say it's 90% of my phone's usage, so i suppose it could have been more to do with other apps i've got installed that caused some kind of conflict.
