Despite the amount of hate DTC gets on here, I'd like to observe how he's strengthened the "second tier" family units; the Masoods and Foxes; which weren't really making any progression.

The Hubbards, are a brilliant addition to the Fox clan and I am especially intrigued by Claudette. Vincent has huge potential and Donna will most likely be further intergrated with the clan. I think the Fox-Hubbard's have the potential to be the show's leading family.

The Masood's were deserted by Zainab's exit in 2013 however since Shabnam returned, the unit has been strengthened by Carmel and Kush. With further additions, the Masood unit now have the potential to be brought straight to the fore.

I'm glad that the two hugely under-rated families on EE are growing in numbers.

It hasn't increased Denise's screentime and it's a disgrace that she is playing second fiddle to Kim.

I'm really glad that the Masoods are getting more airtime. Tamwar has become one of my faves, recently.

Denise needs a storyline of her own.

Denise and Masood are still being treated as second rate characters, which is a disgrace. Let's face it, it's all about Kim and Shabnam.

That's true, actually.

However, Masood is going to get some romance, soon.

I couldn't disagree more.

The best character in that awful Fox/Hubbard set up is Denise and she's been relegated to playing the straight woman to the painfully unfunny Kim. Vincent and Claudette are a joke. Patrick remains a bit player. I can't stand watching their scenes.

Masood is just as underused as he ever was. Tamwar is a bit player as always. Shabnam is the only Masood with increased screentime and I can't stand this version of her. The Kazemis are comprised of the dull Kush and his Peggy rip off of a mother who is only a guest. They neither needed rejuvenation or exploration. A complete set of bores the lot of them.

And while I'm at it the Cokers are bloody appalling. Les is like something out of a bad 70's sitcom.

I know we all watch EastEnders for different reasons so I'm not knocking you, OP. This just isn't my idea of entertainment. Give me the Beales, Mitchells and even the Brannings any day of the week. They may be awful people but at least they keep me entertained with their antics.

Can't disagree with that. Don't mind Kush and Carmel though. I like new Shabs but I preferred the old one.

While i agree about the Masoods, the introduction of the Hubbards to combine with the Foxes has left Denise out in the cold. She's a supporting character who does nothing but moan these days. DTC worked wonders with Denise before, so here is hoping he sorts her out. Her drinking problem and her fight with Lucy need to be revisited. I do like that he has developed Kim a lot. Kim was just there for laughs when the last two EP were in charge, but DTC has actually given Kim a storyline and allowed the actress to shine. I have noticed a fair few people changed their opinion on kim because of it.

Diane Parish is been criminally underused as Denise.

I like the Kazemis but I can't stand the Hubbards apart from Kim. Unfortunately the Hubbards are also linked to the Mitchells and Vincent's scenes with Phil and Ronnie are tedious.

I know people like to complain about the Carters but the show wasn't behind Emmerdale in the ratings when they were the focus.

It's true. The fact that EastEnders continues to lag behind Emmerdale is concerning - given we've had the Lucy storyline dominating this week. The upcoming four clashes with Emmerdale (Tuesday 25th and Thursday 27th August; Tuesday 1st and Thursday 3rd September) will do no favours for EastEnders - Kathy return or no Kathy return, I fear.

It's ironic that EE is going to be one of the show's most affected by the rugby and the BBC aren't even showing it. I can see the clashes becoming a regular thing throughout the next month or two.

Denise had huge involvement with the Lucy plot last year and then with the live week as well. Fair enough Denise does not have a story of her own right now but it isn't possible for all characters to constantly get stories. Kim was absent through most of last year so its only right the attention turns to her for a while.

I'm the other way round. Kush is nothing but a pretty boy who looks good with his shirt off (DTC does like these sort of characters...I'm waiting for the Mr Wet T-shirt contest), and Carmel is just a ginger Peggy who clings to her son for dear life. I can't say I like Vincent being paired with Kim but at least him and his mum show some promise. TBH I can't wait to get back to the Carters.

Not really that fond of Kush but I really like Carmel, she seems such a nice person to be around.

As for the Hubbards, I can take them or leave them really. Not fussed on Vincent or Claudette but I am intrigued about their hate for the Mitchells.
