BT has pushed all Summer their sports channels and they have added 17 new channels in SD & HD & 4HD for sport fans but NOT all customers wish watch sports only and any at all.
They even brought out a new box for sports in 4xHD new sport channel ![]() So we have had news that BT is bring one new channel this Autumn, but we need to have same number of channel that Sports got, so another 16 to go ![]() Also it would be nice to have a choice of Sky Movies HD channels too this year. ![]() So what channels do wish to see this top TV viewing seasons ???? |

I'm happen Eden has arrived to BT. I don't have the Sky Movie channels and although the HD versions of Sky Movies would be good for some its no going to happen and I find Netflix better value than the Sky Movies package.
I'm almost happy with the choice of channels and catch up that BT and Youview has to offer. As long as BT and Youview keep making more minor improvements to there service and BT keep the price a little lower than sky/Virgin then I will be happy with that. Darren |

Aren't you a Virgin TV customer? You seem more concerned about the amount of channels on BT TV than us actual BT subscribers
![]() ![]() And as subscriber to all these services I like have my view to what is going on these platforms at anytime that why this forum is here is it not ????? So having BT TV full package I feel that I can speak about the service which needs more care to keep all customers and not only sports fans as a wide customer base is good for all companies and in turn should give a better service to all customer too. OK |

Also, if you get a Now TV box and you have an activated Entertainment pass you can watch Sky Sports News HQ via a standalone app at no extra charge! 👍🏼 |

Sorry Alan, but from a personal viewpoint, I just don't see the point in paying multiple pay-TV providers. Aside from the obvious qualms about price, there must be so much duplicating of certain channels.
I wouldn't go as far as adding VM as well though, that really does sound like mass duplication! EDIT Correction: I see he has Freesat from Sky, not Sky pay TV, so only two pay providers. |

Some people like me can't afford to have BT was well as Sky or virgin but for Alan to have Sky,BT TV as well as Virgin I don't see the point in paying for all 3. Two maybe if you can afford it.
I have BT TV entertainment max as well as the BT Sports pack for free and Netflix and I'm almost happen with what I got. Darren |

Urm? Just out of a interest how do you have Virgin and BT: do you have two phone lines, each with their own broadband connection?

Darren I have BT Entertainment Max with Sports, and Netflix like you, Darren, and I also pay for the WWE Network on my Roku. I get Now TV entertainment at certain intervals in the year, but never for more than three months, and the very occasional sports pass. That is more than enough for me, I'm often worried how little value for money all those services can be when I'm barely using one or more for weeks in a row. The mere thought of then seeking out another pay-TV provider on top of all that just seems baffling to me! |

Right to answer your questions....
1. I have Freeview HD built in all three TV's & one with Freesat HD too and Freesat Hd box which I only switch on to keep EPG updated and over Autumn and Xmas would record shows I like to see, but now I use Youview box to record above three shows on virgin box. 2. I have a Sky HD box which I only switched on few times in a year to see what channels have changed and see if the EPG as been cleaned up. 3. I have Virgin TiVo which gives all main channels I watch on my main TV . 4. BT TV youview box I got for many reason including that it has History HD which is not on virgin and enjoy the shows on there at times like Ice road truckers, gold diggers and others. I also love that it gives me extra recording box for shows that I love to see. Now with the above means I have two service I pay for at this time and both give us a choice of channels if a service goes down which they do and we can watch on different TV's . Also if for any reason we need to cut back in costs I could soon drop a service or even both as I have Freeview & Freesat & free sky. Yes I now have two phone lines into may home BT I have always had and use it all the time but the virgin phone after years without it I had it put in for free 18 months ago and it drop £34 of the package deal I had at the time and have found it useful to talk to virgin when TiVo box stopped working or wrong prices on bill , it's only plugged in when I talk to virgin and no one but two other people know the number and would only be plugged in bad weathers in case the BT line was damaged. And Before you say it yes it means I have two networks into my home too. Virgin which I have had for about 18 years and BT which is needed to see BT TV channels and only had BT TV & Internet for just over two years now. I use BT broadband on one older laptop which network chip could not handle speed of virgin also a tablet and our mobile phones in the home that saves data and before anyone asks no they are not virgin mobile phones or BT .... I use my virgin broadband with other items in our home..... Now the reasons I like to view my point on BT is that I have it and that it I like that it use Freeview channels on top of BT TV own Internet channels which makes a good back up if TiVo breaks down or it recording three channels at the same time. Also I like BT TV as it could be a very good platform if grows it's multi channels like sky & virgin. I have had ALL digital platforms from they day one like... On Digital / ITV Digital Top Up TV Freeview SD & HD Sky Digital & older service Freesat HD Telewest / Virgin Digital BT TV Youview 8 months after it started. I am watching TV as do this now ... Back to BT TV ..... I see how it has grown in the last 18 months with new software and new channels and apps but all I have seen is them going for sports with 18 new channels which sadly looks like how ITV Digital & Top up TV did with pushing sports above other channels and loosing customers over time because of that and cost to sport rights ..... As a TV mad person and that this a forum to talk about all TV services .... I would add that we have my very ill mother live here and she loves her TV almost 24/7 in the background Also in Autumn & Winter TV companies push out most of the best TV shows and with recordable boxes they can record all for another time in a mad world. |

I understand about your ill mother wanting to watch her TV shows. My mum was the same when she was ill and could not get out the house much. She liked to watch some of the soaps and most TV game shows/Quizs as well as strictly come dancing. Mum passed away a few years ago after being ill for about 18 months or so. I never had Netflix as it only came to the UK about 5 months after she died and I have only had Netflix just over a year now. Mum also used to like to listen to the radio at times as well.
I do like the Youview service and do hope BT TV will grow into a nice TV service. They seem to have not a bad mix of channels but both BT and Youview could still maybe do with some more minor improvements to an already fine service. Also adding more non football sports would be good to. I have had BT TV with Youview + just under 2 years now. I never had the BT Vision back then as I held off until there Youview service came out as I wanted HD as part of the service. I also had OnDigital/ITVDigital back in its day. Then just had Freeview for a few years after that. Darren |

Darren sorry about your mum but it sound you looked after her and allowed her to watch or listen to what made her happy.....
I never had the BT Vision too, and that was only service I think I never had but when BT came with the youview box and the idea that you could go back on the epg a week and record all freeview and now internet tv too. .... As said BT TV and tech makes the platform able to grow and pull in the customers if they work at it..... At this time it's gone sports mad with 28 channels for sports only...and new box for sports fans. got 3 new UKTV channels but not HD sadly .. |

Thanks Alan.
I agree it is the now mostly sports focused but adding the 3 other UKTV channels to the BT line up along with some more on demand stuff from UK TV was a good move. Hopefully over the next year Youview will make more improvements to its Youview service and that BT will also keep making improvements to its BT TV service on Youview. Darren |

Bt Tv
I switched to BT TV when I moved house back in August, however over the past few months freeview tv reception is becoming a big problem, it seems to be getting worse and I am losing channels and I get a lot of pixelation and blanking pictures. It appears this area is notorious for TV reception. For most programmes on freeview I watch them on demand because of this.
Now wouldn't it make sense if BT broadcasted freeview channels over Internet like the extra to channels? Or at least have an option to do so, even if it means paying something like £3.50 per month as I'm aware it would use an amount of bandwidth on the network. Sometime ago it was the norm to pay BT £3.50 for Basic tv in Westminster when they ran Westminster cable. I'm just surprised BT hasn't picked up on this to sell its service to those who can't have dishes or aerials. |

You already have all the online catch up services to mitigate having poor Freeview reception not to mention Freesat?

There is not really that many more channels that I can think of that I would like to see added to BT TV.
I would like to see the likes of Discovery and Fox maybe added to the BT Everywhere app. Darren |

I Wouldn't mind if they added the Discovery Science Channel. It's the only one I miss not having after switching from Virgin.

TV channels and freeview access
Well I still think they should have an option that provides freeview via IPTV even if there is a small charge.
With regard to adding new channels, the following should be added: Discovery science MTV Base MTV Dance MTV Classics BET VH1 Chart Show TV The Box Flava Kiss Magic Sky 1 Sky 2 Sky Living Sky Real Lives Sky Atlantic Euronews Fox News CNN Bloomberg They should really also add foreign language channels. BT really do have what it takes to beat Sky and offer a great TV service that meets everyone's requirements. Virgin Media is almost there. |
