I think what we might see is that the aftermath designed to lead to the disaster, and that we will kinda randomly see it return a bit soon to lead into the Katie reveal stuff. It just does seem to be used as a plot device than having aftermath and reaction for the actual stories sake. I think we have probably moved too past at this point from any aftermath for stories sake. We can probably only expect to see anyone actually talk to Aaron and Robert about their relationship and feelings if and when they start getting back on good terms and could be heading for a reunion and so it serves that purpose.

I think we could get Aaron/Andy stuff soon, i think they just don't expect anyone to notice really that they seemed to be getting on OK in the background of some shots.

the reveal will never be a caught in the act thing as ED wanted robron to be off as a couple during the reveal.. but to tick the caught in the act box (or just after the act) they had paddy do that in the portacabin scene

The reveal was amazing

I really loved it. Danny and Ryan were amazing. In fact i love the three reveals it was made very dîfferently and were very good.

I can accept the reveal and Chrissie’s reaction as a catalyst /plot device for the disaster.
But the rest could still have been done a lot better.

Take Andy's reaction. Not only was he not in the least surprised that his womaniser of a brother who used to be his love rival now sleeps with the village mechanic.
He also never bothered to ask how long the affair had been going on. It was the end of July after all, and Katie died in February. It could just as well have been that Aaron and Robert got to know each other through the scrap yard, Andy could not have known.

I did love our affair reveal. It was written and acted perfectly. The scene was fabulous and it felt like it had built up a perfect aftermath but it didn't. I thought there would more shock, but nobody was really bothered. Lawrence most of all I would have expected more from in terms of revenge rather than just paying Robert off.

In terms of the caught in the act thing. I would have liked it to be Adam that caught them at the scrapyard. Simply because it would have been someone else finding out and if he found individually we might have got the reaction from Adam I think we were missing. In my head Adam would have been angry about how they got the money for the business. Given all that went on with Adam keeping secrets from Vic he might have told her which would have given us another individual reaction. If Vic had pushed Robert on it he might have told her he loved Aaron and couldn't give him up. I feel the way the reveal was done Adam and Vic's reactions were forgotten about the most so if they had found out beforehand it might have been better. Overall though the whole story was done well its just the aftermath that could have been better.

The affair reveal is one of my favourite Aaron moments!

Every time I watch it I always feel bad for all 3 of them in that scene.

Now its on YT I can see Charlie's audition as Val. I suppose they only release them once the actor leaves but would love to see Ryan's. I suppose it would have been with Danny but I wonder if they had to kiss, just to see if he was ok with it

New thread? Nice. Hello everyone!

I'd say that the reveal and it's consequences were excellent up until Chrissie had that argument with Rob at the woolpack, after that it was all kind of... meh

Except for Val and her comment about Diane being homophobic

I'm going to hugely miss Val for all sorts of reasons like that.

I think the acting in the reveal was really great but I still was disappointed by it in some way.I am not quite sure why but for me it definately fell a bit flat after months of build up ! I personally think it could have been written a lot differently.Worse is the aftermath though as it has really fallen short-I feel it was all a catalyst for the disaster and none of it has been done the best for me

I have just rewatched the lodge scenes, and there is one line right there that describes perfectly what I expected from the affair reveal/aftermath (and from people's comments here I dare say this goes for quite a few of you): "If this comes out, I lose everything."

Yet, what has happened?
Robert is still a director at HF, making as much cash as ever.
Lawrence still trusts him enough to go to Europe on company business.
Him and Diane are fine.
Vic is more worried about catering then about Robert, so I'd say they are fine as well.
Andy hated him anyway until a few months ago, so it's hardly a life changing matter.

The only things Robert's actually lost are Chrissie's love and a car.

So really the writers should have realised that viewers would consider this outcome as more than slightly anticlimatic.

I suppose him losing everything will come about from the Katie reveal rather than the affair, which is somewhat ironic seeing as it was keeping the affair secret which lead to him (accidentally) killing her anyway. If only he'd known back then that no one would even have cared

Him and Vic are fine because of the whole saving Adam thing.
Him and Diane are fine because of Val dying and her feeling pretty low and upset over that which puts things in perspective.
Lawrence 'trusts' him because Robert is actually good at his job and you don't become as successful as Lawrence is by not exploiting that, it also gets Robert away from him.

I'm already in serious withdrawal, this week and probably next as well will be hell. Hopefully Aaron appears in some scenes.

I am in serious withdrawal also

Thank you for fanfics

Yes the aftermath was really flat. I agree with you all here.

The reveal and Robert taking aaron hostage and even the disaster are are so far the best scenes.

I read comments saying that ryan was bad in the 'hostage' scene and I was shocked bc i thought he did very well. It was actually heart breaking in a way. When Robert said something like "if you loved me you wouldn't put me in this position" and he was huddle up like a child and he OPENED UP. It was like watching a kid get scorned. And then the way he latched on to Chrissie. I don't know how anybody can look at those scenes and say they weren't great.

I actually kind of understand Robert more bc of those scenes.

Just so we're all (sadly) clear. We're getting no Aaron this week either right?

Ouch. But true, unfortunately. Not much point in an appreciation thread when there is nothing to appreciate.

at long last, i'm home and reunited with my laptop so i was able to vote in the DS Soap Awards in the MF... very fiddly on my mobile to copy and paste everything and erase the other nominees in each category

so torn between my boys for the soap character of the year but in the end decided on robert as he was given plenty to do this year and i'm sure aaron will come back later with heavy stuff and i can vote for him next year

also, i didn't choose chrobert wedding lolz... i liked more the aftermath of the andy/katie wedding coz aaron believed in bae and it led to cute robron scene lolz plus this gif i just discovered https://twitter.com/ALivesyRSugden/s...90622966808576
