This goes for all ex producers of EastEnders and so this is just a thread with a bit of positivity. Apart from when the producer left the show, what did you like about their time?
This can include a storyline they did, new/returning characters, any shock twists etc.

I'm curious to see what good things you think of your least liked producer who I'm assuming will probably be Newman or Kirkwood

Didn't BK introduce the Mitchell sisters? That'd be a positive.

Lorraine Newman: Made Kat a much better character, Janine & Michael plus Michael Murder SL.
Bryan Kirkwood: Queen Vic fire, Bubbly's In The Fridge, Jean & Michael, Jean & Shirley friendships,
Louise Berridge: Kalfie, Chrissie Watts,

Actually for BK, Whitney's sex exploitation sl for comic relief was very good

Great thread.

BK: Initially, I liked his vision. He came armed with audacity and originality, though failed to execute his ideas effectively. Examples include the baby swap storyline and Phil's addiction plot - both of which, on paper, sounded potentially great.

LN: Lorraine's vision for Kat was a strong redeeming quality, as was the groundwork she left for the Alice/Janine/Michael arc. Above all however, I thought Whitney's sexual exploitation storyline was beautifully done.

Both, may I add, were useless on the whole. But hey, this is a thread of positivity, right?

I am interested in characters, not producers
Characters, and stories too, are dependent on producers. If you're interested in characters, you should in turn have an inherent interest in the producers - they're the one's in control.

DS: Live 25 was impressive as was the whole Archie storyline starting with Ronnie and Roxy's intro, Ronnie and Danielle, his relationship with Peggy and finally the murder and live reveal.

BK: The day he quit / was sacked. Qudos to the Billie death episode.

LN: Michael Moon / Janine

Bryan Kirkwood-Janine, he got her character so well, Billie Jackson death episode, Vanessa and Bubbly in the Fridge, the recast of Lauren, Hev's murder which was a fantastic set of episodes with a huge aftermath which gave Jay a big story.

Lorraine Newman-Michael/Janine/Alice story. Actually cannot think of anything else she did that will be remembered, she didn't create any mess for DTC to clear up unlike her predecessor so for that she deserves credit.

There was still a huge sense of DTC doing some clearing up when he first came in. What felt like half the cast were gone in a very short space of time.

Harwood: Introduced some excellent characters (who shined when Santer took over)
Kirkwood: Bubbly's in the Fridge

I don't think Newman was horrendously bad, she just lacked a bigger vision for EE so it was boring at times. She had to clean up/stabilise the show after Kirkwood took a dump over it. I think even DTC wouldn't have been able to do so well if he took over BK in 2012.

Berridge was generally a capable EP who suffered due to reasons beyond her control.

BK - His first few months were great IMO, and I thought bringing back Louis Fowler for a few episodes was a good decision. Billie's death and Peggy's exit were also brilliant produced.

LN - The start of her era was OK, but the show became truly awful in 2013. I can't think of a specific thing she did that I thought was great, but her last few months were a huge improvement from the rest of 2013, with some good storylines that I enjoyed, such as Michael's death, Roxy/Alfie/Kat, the return of David, etc...

BK's best choice imo was bringing back Mandy Salter, then he ruined that by making her and Ian go in circles then axing her

LN: Michael's murder was really good and ironically, although BK and LN are my least favourite EP's, I think Janine flourished best under them and became one of my favourites

LN: The best thing she did was the HurricaneSharon trailer, honestly I loved every trailer that was released under her reign, seems like the only good thing she did. The trailers were better than the show at that point

Do they still happen? I used to love it last year when they were a weekly thing, or what seemed like it

Haha yeah they do, basically all spoilers are released at midnight but certain ones were hyped up, and there were some that were hyped up and were awful, like Whitney's non pregnancy. But I love reading everyones speculations and comments, especially when a really big announcement is made. The reaction to Ronnies return was great if I recall
