Hi,
does anyone know if or when Netflix on Youview boxes will have the 5.1 audio options installed?
Seems odd that every other platform I have for Netflix supports it except the Youview box.

I think any other box that uses the same streams as youview has the same problem. It's a netflix issue.

No but if you google the problem you will see there is the same issue with other devices.

I have Googled extensively, and can find no reference to a general lack of 5.1 audio from Netflix on set top boxes.
However, while investigating this problem elsewhere I have come to the conclusion (right or wrong) that it's the frame rate conversion that is causing the BT YV box not to be able to use 5.1 audio. And why it is taking so long to rectify with a relatively simple software update.

Hoping 5.1 will appear on Youview when Netflix comes to the new UHD box in December

Either the youview (and others) is receiving a 25fps stream from Netflix or is converting the signals to 25fps in the fly.

Either way the Youview will need to be able to output in 50Hz, 60Hz, 50 fps, 29.97fps, 25fps, 23.98fps and 24 fps.

I'm not aware on any other uk PVR that outputs anything but 50Hz, 50fps and 25fps.

So it doesn't sounds like simple software to me.

I worded that wrongly. I actually meant it's taking so long because it's not just a simple software update that's needed AFAIK

IMO of course

Wiki states the YV box can use 5.1 with Netflix, when in reality it can't at the moment:
