You have a strange idea about how us retirees spend our time. As for Kathy, she spent her younger years knitting. I honestly hope she is independent and doesn't have to rely on Ian.

That's what I mean though, Kathy isn't likely to just be sitting about. She will want to be active.

Kathy can be left to her own devices in the cafe, she's not going to start selling weed there. Ian can let her run the cafe and focus on his own businesses.

It's Phil who she is currently depending on it seems.

I just get tired of women having to rely on some man to provide for them...we've had Sharon go that route as well, and it seems

Spoiler
Carmel is going to be homeless soon, as well as Cora.

They do like their women pathetic in EE.

Sharon owns half of her own business. they showed Phil giving it away but Dharon was savvy enough to get her half of the business back.

We even see. Lot of female characters in professional capacities such as Emma, Tosh, Keeble, Richie Scott, MargRet Midhurst and the other female copper who loves Phil.

Sharon came in penniless and has had to rely on Phil to provide for her. Cora came in as a homeless person and is homeless again now. Then there was Ronnie...broke and homeless. Ditto Stacey. Then there is Carmel....

Granted we have guest female characters that are able to provide for themselves, but the others are living in the 50s. I find it tedious and a tad insulting to women.

I do agree with this. Sharon had oodles of dosh when she left. She can't have spunked it all away on Vicodin! And she inherited the bookies! Bloomin' Enders!

Just in the last year or so Shirley, Sharon and soon Kathy - all of the women around him inevitably become something that King Cockroach wipes his boots on after a hard day's thuggery.

Remember the father of your child and how he died Ma Mitchell?

Thought not.
