Coronation Street: Should they give Nick a teenage kid?
I had an idea that Corrie could give Nick a kid he never knew about during his time in Canada. the kid could show up take a job as a waiter at the Bistro and unknown to the rest of Platts he could be causing things to go very wrong for the Bistro and in Nick's personal life. Eventually the kid's true identity would be discovered and the boy was seeking revenge because he grew up believing Nick didn't want him in his life.
Does anyone think this would be a good story idea? |

It's an ok idea. Sounds believable enough that Nick would have a kid in Canada, but if he had a kid he would have known and wanted to see them grow up

I was thinking the mom never told Nick about the kid and the kid grew up assuming Nick just wanted nothing to do with him, which is why he seeks out revenge.

Yes, a Canadian child who has a fear of leaving Canada so Nick moves away with awful Leanne and psychosimonon in tow, never to return again.

Getting revenge on Nick would be too similar to when David tried to ruin his life for sleeping with Kylie

Sounds like a horrible cliche of a storyline, bordering on parody.

That's a relief : from the title I thought Corrie was venturing into a completely different area.
How long ago was nick in Canada, and how would the kid find his present whereabouts? And it just sounds like a terrible old cliché. Unless they varied it, and it turned out it wasn't nick's son after all, but someone pretending to be him. If he's good looking, then I'm sure Leanne would thake him in, so that he actually lives on the street. He could pretend to be robbed while taking money to the bank, and things like that.

Leave that kind of thing to Hollyoaks. |

I think Nick has reached his peak as a character. When you have to resort to such cliches, I think that becomes particularly apparent. For me, his time on the street (or at least as a front-runner as such) is well and truly up.

NIck was in Canda like 15 years ago right? Given Facebook, Instargram and Twitter it wouldn't take more than a quick name search for the kid to locate Nick.

Assuming nick's on any of those. Isn't he a bit old? As in over 20. |

As with a number of characters, I just don't know who Nick is. The character is nothing to nobody. Naturally, there's so much potential given his pedigree but the character has not really developed at all since he returned in 2009. |

Fair enough, he could be on. But why would anyone on Corrie be on any of those, when they don't know anybody who doesn't live on the street?

That means they would have to do it properly with the accent and everything this didn't work well for Vicki on EE

That said I wouldn't want to see him axed as I'm enjoying having the Platts being all back together again for the first time in years but I don't think bringing a long lost child is the answer either as it's been done to death and Nick is not the type of character that would make it interesting as Nick would adjust pretty well IMO. Not to mention we have enough kids on the street as it is. |

I am unsure as to Nicks feelings towards children, he made his ex-girlfriend abort their baby (Can't remember her name) but was sad when his fling had a miscarriage recently

No. It's a bit like the Gavin / Andy and Michael storyline, obviously with differences but similar.

When/if he goes, I hope he takes that awful woman with him, the one who is always hanging around him in the bar. Why he chose her over Carla is a mystery. |
