Seems there keeping schtum on the matter, atm he dead, they seem to have left it a bit ambiguous, although he appeared dead, Pete just left him in a ditch, didn't bury him.

- The spoilers for next Thursday and Friday episodes are extremely sketchy.
- The reveal feels way too soon for a storyline that would otherwise go on for months.
- Too much is emphasized on going to find the body and Pete's family rejecting him.

Judging from Mike Parr's tweet, https://twitter.com/mikeparractor it seems that he has, for the present at least, left. Well, at least that's how I read it. I imagine that the body will be nowhere to be found when Pete returns to the scene, and that we'll be left wondering ''is he or isn't he'' for the forseeable future, as I believe that the door will be left open for his return (should he choose to do so).

Feels very much like the time Diane Parish "left" Eastenders only to make a surprise return after Denise Fox had apparently been murdered and her body found.

I thought so, but after all the hoo ha and lots of indications otherwise pointed out by numerous posters, I now think he's alive.

Pete might not have had a spade to bury him with.

LOL you say it like there is some certainty to it! There's been no body, no funeral, no mourning of the character. Dumbass Pete thinks he killed him, and threw his 'lifeless' body into the undergrowth. Lifeless could mean unconscious.

I would lay my annual salary on the fact that Ross is still alive. The character is at his peak and his return would provide so much drama and potential for new stories. Killing him off would have been a stupid move IMO.

Obviously none of us know. We all saw Pete "burying" him but he never took him to hospital and it was never medically declared.

Hope it isn't another Declan situation.

Somehow I think it happened too scattily, but we'll see. No one knows.

I'm thinking he'll either re-appear in October (traditionally a strong time for ED because of its anniversary) or at Christmas.

Ross will return at some point (probably to add the most dramatic effect to proceedings) and when he does, he will make Pete's life a misery. I imagine he'll be completely over Debs and we'll see him in a new light.

The alternative might be that he's woke up after that head injury and has amnesia and the character we see return is completely different.......though they did that borefest with Jimmy some years ago and it was torture so it's unlikely.

He's my favourite Emmerdale character and I really hope he turns up alive. I was disappointed that he seemed to have left going by Mike Parr's twitter but I have a feeling he'll be back. I would love him to return. He was a witty, funny and interesting character who every now and again would show a vulnerable side. I loved the Donna storyline. I would like to see him fall in love again but not with Debbie. I want it to be a tender relationship that consumes him. It would have to be with a new character, maybe the other White sister...

I did wonder about an amnesia storyline where he is found and put on the news as a missing / found person who acts very differently on his return to the village but then again like you say the Jimmy amnesia storyline's been done and it wasn't good!

Slight understatement. I remember it being utterly horrific and pretty much unwatchable .

When was he witty, funny and interesting? Sorry if I sound horrible but I never saw that in him. But we each see different things in different characters.

He's always been witty, funny and interesting. His scenes with Finn were always very enjoyable.
