I think end of the year she will be gone completley. If she is going blind and deaf there is no way she can learn her lines let alone work.

I think sadly that it is time to say goodbye to dot while charlie making a guest appearance for her funeral.

Poor June Im not a massive Dot fan but it would feel odd if she left for good because, aside from Kathy, she is the only one of the adults From 1985 to still be about

Sad to hear about June's failing health. I hope it doesnt stop her but if she cant hear people cueing her then I guess that makes filming quite hard.

I'd like them to explore health issues with her, when she comes out of prison it can have had a physical effect on her. Team her up with Cora who is good in the reluctant nurse role (experience with Stan) and we are all set for some heart warming scenes. Obviously Fatboy will help out too.

There is still more for June/Dot to give.

Sad news she's going deaf and blind .
But on the bright side she'll finally be able to sit through a full episode of Hollyoaks

I think Dot should go for Junes sake. I have beem saying that for months. June forcing herself to work is not good for that especially as now its nearly impossible/very difficult
For her.

Anyone who wants or thinks Dot should stay are the ones not thinking of her health - including June herself.

It must be very frustrating for her because she likes to read, in many interviews she talks about how she reads a lot of books and loses track of time in the evening often not realising how late it is.

Just as she's finally gained a good-looking family member her sight goes. Typical.

That's a shame. As a fellow bookworm that'd be one thing I'd hate most to not be able to have the pleasure of sitting and reading books so I can understand how hard that'd be for her. With all respect to June Brown, it seems she's becoming more frail and she is a good age, so perhaps it might be a question of taking some time for herself now.

Of course June's health is important, but they cannot just shove her on the scrap heap She wants to keep going and I say fair play to her, otherwise she will just be at home sitting on her bum watching Doctors and Loose Women.

She obviously still enjoys the company going to work brings.

it is great she wants to stay, but at some point the BBC will have to say its not worth doing it, and give themselves time to film an exit, before she has to be killed off screen.

How discriminatory of you.

Lizzie in Ed was blind, still managed to do her job. William roache - ken barlow is deaf or almost deaf in one ear and still manages to do his job.

As long as she wants to work and EE want give her a contract and assistance to help her work despite these things there is absolutely no reason why she cannot carry on.

Edit.. have u ever heard of a dictaphone. Even Dame Julie walters continues to work and can barely see. Even went to india to work last year!

BIB. Why on earth will they have to. If it comes to it her impairments can be written into her character. It's hard enough getting old without people anticipating your demise . If June wants to work then that's what she should do.

First of all.

1. Julie Walters is not a Dame (yet)
2. She is a relatively young and sprightly woman in her mid sixties
3. AFAIA, She has no ongoing health problems that she has spoken of.

I'm aware you probably meant Judi Dench, but I'm still a bit baffled regarding how you can conflate two outstanding renowned talents to such an extent.
