Not wanting to clog another thread up with this - the thread reminded me of this crash - I thought I'd start another. Just having watched the episode and realised how brilliantly they did it all. A far contrast to the shambles that was the helicopter crash last week.

These days explosions and disasters in soaps are commonplace - ridiculously so. So they literally have ceased to shock, really. It's like a disaster a month in every soap, each one trying to outdo the last one.

Back in 1993 something like a plane crash was 'an event' that you sort of watched wide-eyed. These days you might yawn from the repetitiveness of it all!

It was fantastic. A new emmerdale set had been built so they exploded and set fire to the whole of the old set for filming so it really looked awesome. Added to that, burnt out cars etc and smashed windows, it was like a big budget film set. That'll never happen again

So common that the producers seem to think they can just let the characters carry on as if nothing happened, and anything like grief or trauma no longer exists!!

They continued filming at Esholt until 1998 though.

A lot of the scenes were filmed at Rudding Park near Leeds where a golf course was due to be built.

I didn't realise Chris Tate could walk in real life, I thought he was paralyzed in the plane crash.

The actor playing Chris is not paralysed in real life. The character was paralysed in the plane crash.

Ah I wondered, I saw him in a shopping centre a few years ago and he was walking perfectly fine. I wonder if he gets asked where his wheelchair is?
