No thanks.

If the BBC could axe Ripper Street (until Amazon saved it) I could do without them throwing licence money at ex soap stars.

Absolutely!!! Bloody BBC make me sick.

Neither actor is worth even a fraction of that anyway.

The novelty of their return won't even last longer than 3 days before the great British public are used to having them back

What a daft idea. All they need is better scripts and shorter stories.

No, you're right it woudn't

No BBC show would be safe paying that kind of money to any one 'star'. Without wanting to sound mean, no one actor, presenter can possibly be worth that, especially on a channel funded by the tax payer. They'd be earning more than the Chairman of the BBC, not to mention the Prime Minister.

Yes, the friends cast were getting 1 million an episode so approx 22 million a year in their last couple of seasons but that was America where the Productions companies can get their money back through syndication deals, note E4 and now Comedy Central constantly repeating plus the dvds.

The Voice is seen as a target as it is a bought in formula which only seems to function as a rival to 'The X Factor' - a market Cameron's vision of the BBC shouldn't even want, let alone do other people's versions rather than a home grown one like 'Strictly Come Dancing'.

EE is safe though for many reasons, including it being financially more viable than nearly any other drama.

But all that would change if they started paying ANY actor 7 figure salaries, let alone a sum like 15 Million.

Amen to that.

I've always liked you Sulla even though sometimes i disagree with your comments. But that is so the truth of it i feel like nominating it for post of the year in the Awards - except that category doesn't exist!

If they have spare money floating around, use it to get better writers!

Fairly sure money isn't the issue with Kemo or Tully anyway. Kemp would do it if he had the time, tully would do it if she wanted to act - at all.

Don't let the Daily Mail catch wind of this idea.

If they wanted to bring back Michelle Fowler they could easily recast, she's been away so long many viewers wouldn't remember, or even know, what she looked like. They've done it with so many characters now no one would bat an eyelid, and as others have said Susan Tully was an adequate actress at best.

As for Grant, well no, he has to be the real deal, but certainly not at such silly money.

£15m for a character to appear on a Soap? I'd rather give that money to charity

I'm glad you don't control the licence fee monies.

No actor on EastEnders is worth that amount, nobody. And I say that as a huge lifelong fan of the show.

At a time when people are losing their homes, due to mortgage arrears, welfare recipients facing cuts, taxes going up, services being cut, 15 to 25million for an actor to reprise a role in a soap, funded by public money, would be an absolute disgrace.

Susan Tully was only ever OK.

Can you imagine? If I was a billionaire I'd discreetly pay ITV that much to sack him!

There is no way Susan Tully is worth a £15 million incentive. She was never that great an actress. Not even Ross Kemp is worth that much! Personally I don't want a rehash of Phil / Grant / Michelle / Sharon. Some older viewers are just nostalgic for the old days. I don't want to go back to the 80s. Susan Tully won't return in any case.
No TV soap actor is worth that sort of money. Hollywood superstars like Angelina Jolie (who I adore) and Brad Pitt can ask that sort of money and a lot more for blockbusters but I don't think the general British public would like their license fee going to Eastenders like that. Not all BBC viewers even watch Eastenders and many would resent it.

I think if they did then there would be serious questions about the licence fee not just on here but in Parliament and they could say goodbye to their publicly funded jobs. I don't want my licence fee paying some actor £15 million.

25 million? For 25 million i'd want Maggie Smith, Helen Mirren, Tom Hardy and Helena Bonham Carter to be regulars with special appearances from Cate Blanchett, Chris Hemsworth and Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie.

the BBC cant afford to do that

I think I'd rather remember Grant as a young and sexy man. Bringing him back now he's in his 50s could be a real let down. They did it with Den and he'd lost that something that made him special.

I'm a big fan of Ross Kemp's, I don't think he's sexy but there is something about him these days that I find endearing maybe it's because he looks like he could wrap you up in a big bear hug.

15-25m each...if we're forking out that amount of money can I upgrade them to George Clooney and Angelina Jolie instead, please?

Susan Tully is worth a lot more than that. The BBC would have to at least triple the offer.

What would be the point of bringing back Michelle? It wouldn't be as sensational as bringing back Kathy from the dead would it? And I think she's been gone for too long now - if you've been watching for "only" 20 years, like me, then you'll only have a vague recollection of her.
