I really do think EE episodes work or do not work or are boring etc depending on the cast list. These past two nights we've had the Mitchell's, Beales, Cokers, Kathy and mixture of the Brannings too and they've been terrific episodes....when it comes to characters like Stacey / Kush / Shabnam and Fatboy etc.....that's when the show goes off pace we need far more story time with the leaders of the show........

i said this a few weeks ago and got shot down by those who adore these utterly mind numbing characters along with the equally mind numbing carters and cartoon cut out danny dyer.

eastenders has been great this past two weeks, it has actually kept my attention, i havent needed to switch over (as i often did), and i look forward to each episode.

the beales/mitchells and brannings are holding this show together.

i am now dreading them taking a backseat and having to sit through episodes of that Martin Fowler imposter and shabnam and her gang.

I agree. Whenever it goes back to the masoods/carters/foxes/hubbards/martin etc it is for sure not as good right now.

really could not care less about kush and shabnam's wedding especially since we know Kush doesn't love shabnam.

To be fair it's down to personal preference. I am mostly enjoying the current episodes though.

It all depends who you enjoy watching.

I enjoy most episodes but, I'm more emotionally invested when the focus is on the Masoods/Nancy. I really look forward to the episodes that they are in.

As said it does depend who you enjoy watching but I would also argue that because the Beales and Mitchells have been around longest, viewers hold more of an investment within these families and therefore tend to get more out of their scenes.

Having said thatI have become quite fond of the Foxes recently

In years gone by you would pretty much have the same cast all eek, now it's unusual for anyone to be in more than three episodes

agree EE works well when you have the "stronger" (for want of a better word) cast at the forefront however I do actually like the Masoods

Not at all fussed on the Stacey/Martin storyline at all and the less I see of the Carters (thankfully they have all been AOL for a while) the better

I don't like Kush or Martin. I did like Kush to begin with when he was a bit cheeky but now he's boring. I do like Shabnam. I really enjoy the Foxes and Hubbards. Vincent and Kim are very watchable. I'm not so keen on Patrick who needs to mind his own business about Vincent as it's up to Kim if she loves him and they have Pearl! Denise doesn't get much to do which is a shame as she's played by a good actress.
I have enjoyed watching the Beales recently. The Bobby and Lucy story has been great recently where the Beales are concerned.
I do not enjoy watching the Mitchells. That includes Ronnie lately, Roxy, Phil and especially Sharon. I do like watching Ben and Paul though. Just when is Ben going to ditch Abi or when will she catch him undressed with his lover?
The most boring characters are Sonia and Martin for me. I really don't care about either of them and Carol is so miserable I can't wait for her to go now. I also don't like the Shirley / Buster / beardy Dean trio. I wish the three of them would just bugger off to the seaside!

EDIT I forgot about the Carters! I like Linda. Kellie Bright is a lovely actress. Mick is a character I liked at first but I've slightly got bored with him. Nancy has changed into a boring character who started out very well and I found her a great tom boy character at her near wedding. Now I drift off when she's on. Lee is boring as is Tina.

At the moment it feels like two different soaps. One where the Mitchell's, Beales, Brannings etc all interact and and there's no sign of the Carters and another where it's just the Carters and no one else. I wish they would do a better job of integrating the Carters with the other family units. They started to do that early on, with Mick's friendship with Ian, Linda's friendship with Sharon etc but then the family just got taken over by the rape storyline and from reading an interview with Danny today, it seems that there's even more to come from that story! If they're not going to resolve it then I really wish they would give the Carters a new story in the meantime as I really feel it's dragging them down and leaving them isolated.

I agree with everything you've said here. While I miss them, I'm glad the Carters have been given a little rest over the past couple of months. Finding out Mick is Oliver's father really seemed to be a turning point for them as a family. In the scenes where they have appeared, it seems like they're getting back to some version of "normal." Now I'd like to see more of Nancy and Tamwar, Lee struggling with depression, and Mick and Linda branching out a bit more.

I'm also all for seeing more scenes regarding the rape as long as progress is made that leads to a conclusion . Yes, we get that Mick hates Dean and wants him gone. Yes, we get that Mick and Shirley are at an impasse because of her support for Dean. Now let's see something that changes Shirley's mind, let's see Dean admit raping Linda to someone, something that changes the game!
