I finally thought we would get an answer to Les and Claudette's secret tonight. But no, Les is clearly keeping some of it to himself to once again drag on for several weeks with little plot development. And Pam running off 2 mins into their argument to visit Carol was clearly done to drag it out for the entire episode.
And don't get me started on the Lucy or Kathy plots. It just feels like the writers are dragging out absolutely every plot at the moment with the tiniest details being revealed at a time, and constantly plot stalling in between (where barely anything happens to move the plots foreword)to keep things ticking over. It is SO DULL.

An example is Pam running off to stay at her sisters and in the meantime Paul telling Les 'it's all his fault' because of his 'affair' with Claudette, and Les replying with 'it's not like that', with Paul not probing him any further. This scene was repeated for an entire week until Pam came back... And still nothing has really happened.

Speaking of the storyline being DRAGged out, I'm pretty sure Les is going to be a cross dresser.

It just feels like all of the dialogue is forced to drag everything out for another episode. Ian/Jane keep having the same conversation on repeat.
Finally something happened - Sharon discovered Bobby is the killer, but it STILL took another entire episode for Jane to finally admit the truth to her at the very end. No doubt this will go nowhere fast on Thursday's episode.
It's not like the outcomes of these storylines are even worth the wait at the moment. Nothing compared to Santer's reveals.

And the rarely seen Lee and Whitney turn up next week are the story goes back to trying to work out what his issues are after about a six week gap

It's like every story that DTC introduced when he first started are STILL GOING. He doesn't end them or give them closure - they just drag on and on and on...

Correct. The tablet I'm using is not mine and is auto correcting with incorrect spelling and not being very techno savvy I do not understand why.

Point still stands though!

Maybe all of the plot development will suddenly shift forward when we reach the autumn/winter? It could be that all of the storylines they currently have running need to reach a certain point by autumn/winter in order for them to be where the producers want them at Xmas, so they're having to drag the stories out over the summer months because they physically can't move them forward too much at the moment

Tonight's episode may as well not have been aired nothing progressed. On Monday Pam returned and demanded the truth from Les about him and Claudette but he still hasn't told her, Kathy returned but we still don't know any more about what's going on with her, and Sharon discovered Bobby killed Lucy but that also happened on Monday as well she just changed her mind then changed it back again.

This is EXACTLY what I'm talking about! It's like this constantly at the moment. I feel like I could fast forward several weeks and only have missed 2 or 3 actual points of plot development

Even Phil told Kathy to 'start talking' yet - shock horror - she didn't. The characters are just wasting their breath at the moment- none of their questions ever get answered and nothing moves forward.

Totally. Quite how that helped him get over the death of his son is beyond me but each to their own

I agree. It's just boring, repetitive and tedious.

I don't think that's the case. I think that was Les' cover story to Pam to cover up whatever his secret is.

Surely a man in Les' position (being accused of having an affair after 40 odd years of marriage) would just be honest with their wife if it's something much less worse (e.g. him cross dressing)?

I believe you mean incumbent, but don't let your poor grasp of your supposed mother tongue stop you criticising the show.

No need to be so aggressive. I'm enjoying a lot about East Enderby right now, more so than I have in years but pacing is an issue.

As I said up thread I'm having auto correct issues with an unfamiliar tablet but even if my spelling was poor it would be rude to pounce so aggressively just because I Pont out a flaw on a TV show.

As it happens English is not my mother tongue although I have been here a very long time but if it makes you feel better I used the exact same word 'incumbent' with correct spelling previously in this thread http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showt...php?p=78929076 using my own tablet with the auto correct switched off. Now it's confirmed I know the correct spelling of that particular word I hope I have satisfied your personal requirements for offering up an opinion on a discussion forum.
