Well, yes. I don't know why some folk expected him to be brilliant in the first place. Tmk he has never professed to be a 'dancer'. Yes he sometimes does little routines when he is singing, but he is not a trained dancer , is he I only ever thought he would be 'ok', and l'm sure other people who like him thought the same

It wasn't a good Paso, lets be fair here. Did the costume hinder him a little? Yeah, ok, those boots didn't help and the beard and hair ... well, less said about that the better. However he wasn't hitting the Paso shapes and you can't blame costume for that. He seemed to be slumping forward a lot when trying to do the classic shaping and yes it was stumpy, but as said that could have been the boots. It also lacked intensity which you really, really need in a Paso. He just seemed to be walking around, no tension in his body and arms although he was pulling the faces ok.

Regardless the Judges were nice enough to him and didn't take him to town about his lack of style or technique to the level they have other contestants. Only Bruno gave him any sort of flack. Even Craig let him off easy. In fact thinking about it he has had a pretty easy ride really considering some comments levelled at the others. He was over marked for sure. Should have been a few 6's in there.

As to liking or not liking him? I didn't think I would. I have never held a good opinion of him to be honest. He always seemed to grab at any show that plasters his face on the screen as if trying to regain his popularity from the 90's. However so far he has come across as a normal guy and my dislike of him isn't effecting my opinion of his dancing at all. Actually I prefer him to Mark Wright from last year as Wright just got on my nerves with all the crying and everything.

Monkseal made a very good point (can't remember which thread though) in that the judges comments were a way of managing the crowd - it being fairly hyped due to the costume, major time props and production - but that the scores were lower than the comments would indicate.

I totally agree with your verdict of the dance - it's all too easy to blame it on the costume, and certainly the boots above all didn't help. However, it's clear to see that the posture was totally wrong, the shaping of arms was incorrect, his shoulders were forward. Even in the most typical of paso outfits, it would have been awful - and perhaps shown up even more, so perhaps the costume wasn't too bad 6s would have been more accurate, I agree. Perhaps they didn't want to come down too heavily on him given the headlines - it could have been seen as picking on him, or cutting him loose.

His lack of technique was appalling in that paso ..stomping doesn't necessarily equate to paso and 4 7s was generous. ..it should have been 2 6s at least.

I've said this since week 1, the judges are too lenient towards him especially compared to other contestants like Anita or georgia for example.

Not only was he not good, he was terrible. In fairness to him though, that coustume was a thundering disgrace. He could barely raise his little legs in those boots

I think Peter Andre was sold a complete kipper with that outfit. In all fairness, no one would have looked good in it, not even Aljaz. If I was him I would have refused to wear it.
I think that probably, Peter imagined himself as a butch, swashbuckling action hero, and unfortunately it was more angry toddler in a cheap fancy dress outfit.
But however bad the outfit was - and it was bad - his dancing was honestly not great. How much of that is down to him, how much is because Janette doesn't appear to have taught him any kind of technique, and how much is because of the outfit is debatable. I'd say probably a combination of all three.

I think they deliberately went lite on him this week because of 'external factors'...

From this point forward, I think he'll be judged more realistically. He's going to have to seriously up his game to stay in the contest as he's showing no signs of improvement.

He was definitely trying, but the overall effect was not what I think he imagined it to be. He has had years of working with choreographers and dancers, so should be able to pick up a routine. I wonder if his partner is relying on his "performance" rather than working on the technicalities with him?

Spot on. After 26 years of 'performing' he has no excuses. Janet does not teach technique, and she's not much of a teacher anyway, but he needs to get his act together.

That paso was quite dreadful. His big problem is his posture - which is hunched - and his inability to use the floor resulting in terrible 'stomping' in every dance he does.

Exactly, much I can't stand the man and think he's a talentless twonk (and I've thought this since Mysterious Girl days and have yet to see anything to change my mind, although his hair is mildly less stupid these days), I did expect him to be annoyingly half decent at this, but he's not, he's going backwards rapidly and a lot of that is down to Janette's teaching skills, which appear to be pretty minimal, Jake really didn't improve last year either, he would have done far better with Ola.

I've seen a lot of comments talking about his pirate boots etc .. and how they hampered him. Was he wearing boots though?? It looks like wardrobe just sewed mock boots onto his trousers to me. In effect they still hid his footwork a bit but I think that may have been a good thing.

If I were Janette and aware of all the criticisms made about my teaching ability, I would determinedly say goodbye to circus tricks for two weeks and produce step / frame perfect dances in order to shove my clenched little fist up my critics' derrieres

He would need somebody like Aliona to whip him into shape. If there's a bit of talent down there she'll find it. She built up Harry from nothing to a winner, did excellent quickstep with Louis and now this. She should give lessons about how to give lessons You need a talent though to excel like that and I think Peter has some. He just needs somebody to show him the right direction.
