Progessive problem?

I have a Panasonic TH37PE30 with a Panasonic DMR85 and Pioneer 575 connected.

The problem i have is that whenever either of the units are set to progressive the picture quality doesn't improve? In fact its worse than just using a scart. (very fine horizontal banding across the entire screen).

My component cable came from Sevenoaks HiFi and was hand made at some cost, so i'm guessing that's not the problem?

Has anybody have any experience of this TV in progressive mode? Or any ideas what could be causing this?

dont bother with prog scan out the Plasma will de-interlace it anyway ideally tou should connect the E85 via scart and component to the AV4 input on plasma leave progscan off for more info see www.avforums.com
