I've got an amazing friend who has managed to get a pair of tickets to the Strictly red carpet event and invite me, need a few tips from previous red carpet goers.

1. What time did you get there? Is it normal strictly times for the red carpet?

2. Can you take your phones in and get photos with the celebs?

3. How long does it normally last?

sorry Ive not been to a red carpet event but I would imagine the same rules apply to the red carpet as to a live show - no phones or cameras but Im not 100% sure

I went a few years when it was at TVC. We got there about 3.30 pm and were in the first 20 people. We were allowed to take in phones and cameras and there was a lot of interaction between the fans at the front and the celebs but looking from the pictures from last couple of years, the fans/audience seem to be separated from the red carpet and there were cameras and train tracks between.

I have no idea as to timings for the red carpet event at Elstree. Sorry.

The year we were there, we had about an hour to kill once inside (in the canteen = now would be the marque at Elstree), then we were herded/organised outside which took about 30-45 mins to do and then the event took about 1.5/2 hrs.

Perhaps someone who went the last couple of years since its moved to Elstree can confirm if the timings are still roughly the same.

I've got tickets for the Red Carpet do this time. Have been to the BBC studios before but not to Elstree. Says doors open at 3pm but as same as previous studio got to get there early to queue up. If anyone has an idea how early to get there would be a great help? X

We too have tickets. It's like a normal recording, you have to get there early in order to guarantee a place. They give out more tickets than they have spaces.

This year they say they will be validating tickets from 9am. Admission 3pm, Doors Open 4.50 and recording starts 5.50. Quite frankly these timings piss me off and I think the BBC treat the fans badly. Why does it take almost 7 hours to get a few hundred people organised? So much sitting around, most of it outside.

Anyway, moaning over, we will probably get there between 10 & 11. We got there before 9 last time and it was way too early. People who arrived mid afternoon still got in.

As for cameras, no, you can't take them in. Phones and cameras are taken off you at the door and locked away. The process was well organised and safe, so it didn't worry me.

Enjoy the day, and bring books/crosswords etc as you will be bored. Until the main event, that is!

Do you mean the red carpet bit or the main premiere show recording?

When I went (admittedly to TVC), we only were admitted about 5 ish and the red carpet recording bit started about 7 ish.

For the premiere show recording the same timing principles apply as to the main show.

Although I haven't seen the "red carpet" event ticket timings, I find it hard to believe that the timings are the same for that - especially as this is an outside event?

I definitely took my phone and camera in and got some great shots (but this was the first or second year they did this) so things might have been tightened up since.

Don't forget to complete the look with a sign around your neck saying "i am a mole"

No one would ever suspect you

Oh, now I'm not sure. I'm talking about the filming of the launch show, taking place on 2nd at Elstree. Timings are definitely correct for that.

If the "red carpet" is another do altogether, then my apologies.

Hope you have a brilliant time. Will be watching for your spoilers on Thursday morning or if we are really lucky Wednesday evening.

Just a little note to anybody going Tuesday. When my email came through with the confirmation of tickets, the attachment wasn't correct. I had to ring them this morning and question the attachment. They resent it straight away, and now attachment is correct.

I know it's been a year but was wondering what the queue was like for the red carpet event?

Managed to finally get tickets but travelling a fair way so don't want to miss out.

Thanks for any advice/info.

Well done on getting tickets!

There is a thread on page 2 of this forum, titled "Red Carpet Event and Launch Show". The first post has links to some further information, but I don't know how helpful that will be. Hopefully there is some useful advice.

I know from reading in the past about Strictly events that you need to give yourself plenty of time, as there might be quite a bit of waiting. Hope someone who knows can give you a better answer.

Good luck and have fun!

Thanks for the heads up but doesn't seem to offer much advice.

Has anyone here been to the Red Carpet Event in Elstree?

I'm keen on finding out about queue times etc. plus any other useful info.
