That's a good point - at least it should be, but we have seen Kristina dancing on a chair with Colin Salmon and dancing with him with his feet as far apart as possible.

There may be a lot of wailing and gnashing of teeth on the forum when the pairings are announced.

From Goaty's link above

''However, the singer admitted he has been taking inspiration from the past when it comes to honing his dance moves ahead of the competition.

'For the past 10 days I’ve been looking at clips of Fred Astaire, Gene Kelly, the Nicolas Brothers and Sammy Davies Junior to see what they did to make the audience like their performance,' he said.''

What next is this fool going to say.

''The father-of-three also said he is inspired by the greats when it comes to his songs and he revealed he is currently working on an album of Frank Sinatra covers.''

That is just him.
He thinks of a really big name and tries to associate himself with said person.

For the past ten days - who does he think he is kidding? He has been the only strong rumour since about May - when he tweeted his thanks to Claire for getting him a great job.

He has been training for months.

I think Simon Cowell may just regret saying that.......X Factor ratings on Saturday lowest in 10 years. SCD will trounce them.

I thought he'd murdered swing with his last album? Is he going back for another go, then?

Look - if Robbie can do it - Peter can (think he can) do it.

Has any other star of Strictly ever come under such ridicule and scrutiny? So what if he has been watching performances of some of the greats to give him inspiration....he wants to do well, as they all do and doing research is not something to be ridiculed. Give the guy a break for god's sake. It is just relentless.

Reading through the comments on that article I thought this one was spot on, particularly the bib.

Might be an idea to find out if he can dance first! If he can, he could be entertaining to watch. It is a dance programme you know, not "who do we hate most" programme. That sort of attitude should have been left behind in the playground!

I completely agree that it SHOULD be about the dancing. But I think it's fair to say that sometimes competent dancers get voted off far too early because they are not popular, and less talented dancers progress - or even win ( Darren Gough and Chris Hollins to name two ) because people like them.
I must admit that there have been a few contestants who I loathed ( Vorderman, Lulu, Rantzen, Mark Wright, Ann Widdicombe ) BUT if any of them had been fantastic dancers, while it wouldn't have made me like them, I would hope I would have been able to acknowledge their ability.
I'd rather wait until the programme actually starts before I decide who I'd like to win.

Now, no doubt there will be some who would prefer to comment on his singing or his looks but I think this video confirms the bib..

He's obviously quite young here but there is no doubt the guy can move.

I just don't see it myself, yes he's got rhythm but as far I could see, there was a few steps repeated over & over & his hands were all over the place.

Of course he could improve vastly throughout Strictly & good luck to him but regarding that video, imo, it didn't show he was a natural dancer.

I said he can certainly move.. and imo that video does show that.

ETA.. I'm not expecting you to agree.

Yep, he can certainly move, plenty of energy there. He is still a very fit guy for his age which will stand him in good stead for the gruelling training.

Believe it or not, Nicola, if I did agree with your opinion re PA dancing, I would have no problem saying so.
Strictly is my favourite programme & liking or disliking the celebs taking part is irrelevant, it's all about the dancing & improvement for me & if PA does well, fair play to him.
However I have to be honest, I am looking forward to the comedy value I think he'll bring.

I don't understand your point or points, whatever. I didn't watch the video and I'm not interested in his past . Once he dances I'll be more than happy to diss him if he deserves it .
Till then I'm not interested in his life story and as for that link earlier ? He said something about the show, Carol said something about the show, Helen said something about the show, Simon Cowell said something about the show . Hardly earth shattering or worthy of nit picking at just one of those being quoted for saying something innocuous .

Yes, I definitely think he has the stamina for it.

I'm not saying he's the greatest dancer just that he does have some rhythm and therefore it's unlikely he will be totally useless on the show.

But if I'm honest I don't believe he can win it as I think there will be others who will be better dancers.

We shall see.

I'm impressed. Wasn't aware of that.

Having his own music publishing can be seen a bit like publishing your own book - though it has financial benefits if things go well.

Everyone has different tastes. If Peters voice sounded stronger and the songs had more rawness to them and were a bit more unique in his next Swing album, I would like it more.

I'm glad he's on the show. He's the biggest signing and he can dance.
I'll form a real opinion of him when he's been on the show.

An associate asked me why his making jokes at my expense didn't bother me, and I replied "It would do if it was someone who's opinion I valued."
I laughed at his winding me up because he was funny, but the principle also applies if its not funny.

Maybe Or an alternative interpretation is that he has a strong work ethic and takes any job he has been booked for seriously enough to invest his time in lots of preparation. Successful performers are often the ones that take the time to do their home work and researching by watching successful dancers is one way of preparing for the role he is being paid to fulfil. He has built a 30 year career in the public eye based on one single it seems, so I think it likely that he is a trier and a worker. I can't find it in me to criticise a man for exploring any route to help him deliver the best performance he can.
