Are you serious? You think that Simon Webbe from multi-million album sellers Blue and Pixie Lott who has had three number 1 singles and had a top 10 hit mere months before doing the show are 'ITV2 nobodies'? All of that definitely happened in the real world by the way.

I always like to think that with a show like SCD, its all about how the celebrities get on during the series and I'm not as fussed about knowing who they are beforehand, but I must admit I'm feeling very disappointed with who has been announced. Last year I was really hyped to see Pixie, Frankie, Scott and Tim before the series had even started and was also interested in seeing Caroline, Steve and Simon on the dancefloor. This year there is nobody I'm excited about yet!

For most of this series Strictly will not be directly "against" X-Factor due to the World Cup Rugby matches on Saturdays.

Hopefully they do not see the need this year to pander to teenaged girls / tweenies.

Fed up with ex Boy/ girl band members promoting their solo careers

*Bumps this thread after Jamelia reveal*

Sigh

One of the most annoying people on television - still hanging on to a one hit wonder that came out in 2007

She's not really a one-hit-wonder though. Sure Superstar was her biggest hit, but Thank You, Money, See it in a Boy's Eyes, Beware of the Dog, Something About You, Stop... were all quite big songs.

I apologise for my negativity over Daniel O Donnell joining the line up- I didn't realise that twonk Jamelia was joining, give me Daniel over her any time- all she did on Bear Grylls show was moan and whinge , this is testing my love for the show ...

She was also a coach on The Voice of Ireland and has held down her position on the Loose Women panel whilst others including Myleene Klass, Jenny Eclair and Shobna Gulati have fallen by the wayside.

Though she can grate sometimes, it is not fair to slag her off like she is a totally nobody when she clearly isn't...

It's too soon to call, especially as the full list isn't known yet. Looks like an ok mix to me so far - typical Strictly.

It usually takes a few weeks to gain a sense of where the season is heading. Still optimistic at this stage lol

Now I can say this current list is really sucks, they are so D-lists?

I'd say D list is being generous! As others have said, when Peter Andre is the biggest name you know it's time to worry!

I do wish Americans plus other foreigners were barred from the show.It should be British born only.
This year I wont be watching anyway thanks to Peter Andre taking part.

I thought last year is worse.

But we have Peter Andre and Anthony Ogogo too enjoy..

Ladies and gentleman we have the Ann Widdecombe one to chuckle over..

Jamelia...

I think Jamelia's pretty comparable to Sophie Ellis-Bextor in terms of her music career: she had quite a few hits and is fairly well known, but hasn't charted for a pretty long time. The difference with Jamelia is that she now seems better known as a gobby woman who talks rubbish on TV - a shame as she's a decent singer IMO.

As an aside, I predict Darcey having 'leg envy' again this year thanks to Jamelia.

Peter Andre was born in Britain - he and his family moved to Australia when he was six, but he's probably spent more of his life here than Australia.

This is the first series where I have actually heard of most of announced contestants, but I think I prefer it when I don't know who most of them are - that way I can look forward to seeing them! Not sure that this line up actually sucks, but certainly it doesn't excite me in the least. But who knows? Maybe we will be pleasantly surprised

Better him than his vile, ghastly ex - a woman who epitomises all that is wrong with modern celebrity.

Well, I'm sure throwing your toys out of the pram will keep you amused for the duration. And the irony of your given location in Greece, if true, seems to be lost on you.

If that became a Strictly rule, then, in fairness, they would surely need to extend it to the professional dancers as well, which pretty well leaves the line up with ..... Anton & 2 of the Cliftons!

I've watched the show since day one, and this line up has to be the worst. The term celebrity in this series is seriously used loosely. It's pretty bad

This is most certainly the worst Strictly line up since 2014.

They have been rumours about jamelia for a while and I'm glad that theyre finally confirmed. Only person I'm excited to see thus far.
Peter Andre too

I welcome them too.

What I don't want is 15/16 bland celebrities.

We started out with quite a few that looked like risks in that direction. I'm hoping Jeremy and Katie turn out to be a lot more interesting when we get to know them.

Ainsley has a bit of life about him.

Jamelia is fun IMO. She is ready for a laugh, but says things that get some people's backs up. On the one hand, expecting a lot of size 20's to start wearing size 10 doesn't go down well - on the other, there is a big obesity problem in the UK which costs a lot in terms of health and money. Some people probably reckon she puts her foot in her mouth too often - others think she should keep it there. At least she looks like she physically could.

Anthony is interesting as you wouldn't expect a boxer starting out on his professional career to be on Strictly. He is young and looks fit and has shown an interest in ballet.

Jay is a rare case in that he has trained as a dancer - and he seems to be a bit of a mischievous character.

Peter is maybe the best known celeb so far and polarises views. He can dance a bit.

Daniel is the most interesting to me. I 'get' the parody of him on Father Ted. He makes my teeth nervous. He reminds me of Mrs Doyle in Father Ted. I'm sitting with a cup of tea and Daniel has a serving spoon and a champagne bucket full of sugar. "Would you like some more sugar dear? Aw g'wan - y'will, y'will, y'will."
Its going to be a very calorific Strictly, with Peter bringing 50 shades of cheese, and Daniel bringing 40 shades of sugar.

I'm looking forward to Jameila and Kellie Bright. I'm hoping that Peter Andre goes quickly but I doubt that will happen.

I usually know all the celebs (or at least 80% of them) every year, and this year is no different. But just because I have heard of them all that doesn't mean I am interested in them. This is generally the first time in the entire history of Strictly where every contestant is greeted by a "meh" from me. If I had to pick one right now I'd go for Anthony Ogogo - mainly because I've met him, and he was a nice guy.

Don't agree with the OP. I'm in my 60s and I have strongly heard of seven of them and vaguely heard of three of them. I don't watch soaps so don't know about George May and Kellie. I would call seven of them big name signings, or as big a names as you are likely to get - I mean, come on, you can expect Beyonce, Brad Pitt etc, can you ?

Much more excited by this line up than last years, no reality "stars" this year so far.
