Huawei mifi on Three

I've been using the Huawei E5573 4G Mobile Wi-Fi for a few days as we're in a temporary rented house for a month or two.

I'm struggling to understand why the Three website's remaining allowance is so drastically different than that shown with the Huawei app that connects the device and seems to update almost instantly (website is more like daily update)

I am connecting from one to another PC (remote desktop) on my local network via wireless and I do copy media around on the network, is it possible that the device counts local traffic and includes this in what's been used out of the monthly allowance, thinking it's external?

Three website:
Mobile data MB 21,496 (data left)
New monthly allowance starts in 0 day(s).

I'm not sure why it says 0 days left, that doesn't help the confusion.
The app shows 17.5Gb left which at this rate would mean the 20Gb won't last me the month, but I think the Three numbers are nearer the truth. Should I just go with them?

I have been with Three Mobile broadband (Mifi & dongle) for about four years.

1) If you go over your monthly allowance of Three data, you get hit with charges.

2) Their web based estimate under MyAccount allowance seemed accurate, at least to the day. It always corresponded with their billing, as it would.

I would ignore the MiFi app and go with the Three web page. I only got hit with charges about three times in four years, mostly by watching movies or using YouTube.

As you said you've been using it for a few days that is probably the reason why it says you have 21,496 (data left) because when you first use a Three mobile BB SIM they add an extra charge of up to 9 days on your first months bill so you can use it right away.

So your current remaining allowance shown on Three's website is based on using the extra data, not your regular monthly data allowance.

Thanks for the info, am monitoring it using the website now and yup, it started again from 20Gb after a few days.

I didn't know that my connection would just stop when my allowance was used up when I was with three. I left them last month I'm with EE now and so far so good.

Mine didn't. I would get warning texts, but as I had a dongle plugged into a router I couldn't read them. So I relied on the web page.

It was possible to run up £30 excess charges which stung, but the broadband didn't stop. I thought it was pretty good for £15.00 a month, and the only reason for ditching it was the arrival of £12.99 unlimited broadband and a 'free' landline from SSE.

EE actually stop your connection when your allowance is used up because they include a data cap by default.
