Lines for the judges?

Do you have any ideas for funny lines that the judges could use this series? It could be to do with the 'celebrities' day job to technique.

I point-blank refuse to contribute to this thread - as there are scriptwriters who are paid to come up with guff which will probably be no where near as good as we here could muster.

Plus, I would be mortified if any of our contributions were actually used without acknowledgement...

This is why Strictly isn't as good as it used to be. The judges have scriptwriters and they comments are written before the show. They're not actually 'judging' the dance- just putting on a performance for the audience (Len and Craig fighting etc). It's worse than the X Factor!

Bruno's had enough lines as it is.

Badly!

And Craig will no doubt play up to his perceived villainy by mercilessly slating housewives favourite Daniel at every given opportunity.

The only two worth listening to are Craig and Darcy. At least they talk about dance and both of them still can dance.

Len is as thick as a plank and still thinks gauchos dance Argentine Tango with hookers and pimps. Ignorant old man. He's so dated and so out of touch with dance. I wish he'd go.

Bruna is just a mega parody of himself and has nothing left to say.

I doubt that Craig and Darcy are scripted. They can string a sentence together.

As for the other two - yeah, I think they need it. No, that I even listen to them anymore. I just fast foward Len, Bruno, Toss Pot and Claude and focus on the dance TBH.

He's run out of ideas. Mind you, what has he got left? Does he even have a day job any more?

I think the boxing ones will be the worst. Let's not start ruining our entertainment before the scriptwriters can do it for us.

Au contraire sofakat - Len and Bruno are the ones who's opinions matter more to me!

Craig is a West End choreographer with neglible knowledge of ballroom dancing, and Darcey a ballet dancer - again with negligible knowledge of Ballroom. Yes both of them WERE professional dancers, but in fields very different to that which they are judging on Strictly.
They can comment on musicality, lines etc, but when it comes to actual ballroom technique Len has probably forgotten more than they know about it. Craig nit picks the stupidest things in his critiques, and probably gets people to vote for those he hammers - I for one don't care about a slightly sickled foot, a sticking up thumb or banana hands - none really detract from the look of the dance or its execution. A lot of Craig's comments actually show his lack of knowledge, but he delivers them with such confidence that non dancers tend to believe he does know what he's talking about - something which clearly pees off at least some of the pros.

Len, as a Ballroom and Latin accredited judge gives kinder critique, points out REAL issues, and tends to be more positive - even towards the worst dancers. Bruno has picked up a lot from Len and by being involved with all the DWTS series, and his criticism is on the whole constructive underneath the histrionics.

Just being harsh and hypercritical doesn't mean you are a good judge - and I for one would take Lens comments far more seriously than Craig's.

X Factor don't have scriptwriters.. I'm sure they'd come up with more original stuff for Louis Walsh!

They don't have scriptwriters for the comments, but when the judges have 'fallen out' or argued on the show before there have been allegations that these fights have been scripted or set up by the producers.

Thank you so much for your opinion CarolUK. Ballroom is a small and rather insular world, isn't it - and Len didn't even make it very far in that area of dance. You listen to dear old Len and the agitated Italian. Entirely up to you. I shall continue to ignore them for they have nothing whatsoever to offer me.

I know a great deal about dance and I will stick with people I feel have an actual working brain and proper dance training. Thanks all the same.

Anthony Ogogo? More like Anthony, oh stop, stop!

Jamelia, as for your hold..
Well it's no wonder they call you a "loose woman", darling. You were certainly no "superstar".

Well Helen, by George, you've got it! (preferably immediately after a quickstep to The Rain in Spain).

Well Peter, you CAME AHT, much like the majority of your male fanbase.

For Helen: "You keep delivering brilliant dances week after week"

No doubt on the launch show after the group dance Len will say something like he thinks this year will be the best series ever.

Agree, sofakat, re Craig and Darcy. I find them far more consistent also in their voting.

Wasn't particularly getting at you sofakat - I know you are knowledgeable about ballroom dancing from your numerous posts on here - I just get very fed up with everyone going on about Craig being the best judge.

I do respect, his knowledge of the dance genres he knows well - but he really doesn't know much about ballroom and Latin from some of the comments he has made in the past - and he's been picked up on them by several of the pros notably James and Brendan.

Sitting making overly harsh critiques and refusing to give a 10 because of a sticking up thumb is just attention seeking - there have been many performances that missed out on the perfect scores they deserved because of him - and I think he's set out to be Mr Nasty and nearly every other show of this type seems to feel that someone like him is necessary on the panel.

Don't get me wrong - there are times when I could kick Len and the others for being incapable of marking less than 5 no matter how bad the performance was, and for giving 10s too early, but I'm sure the pros could all curse Craig for his often destructive criticism - especially in the early stages of the competition when everyone is finding their feet. The pros spend all week building their celebs up for the show, then have to watch and listen to the celeb being ripped apart - and it's not as though they don't KNOW that they delivered a bad performance. They must have to waste time on building the celebs confidence back up rather than getting on with training.

The trouble with being overly negative is that most people being criticised stop listening after the first negative hits them, so it's important to start off with positives, to make them relax and listen, and that's what Len (and Darcey) is usually good at. He does criticise, but almost always leads into it, and finishes off with a "well done". The celebs leave feeling better about their performance and with things to work on, rather than being almost in tears and quite often visibly upset.

Suspect what people like about Craig is his marks seem for more logical with his comments.

Yes, Craig is the only judge with the full range of paddles.

Any expertise the others have is lost if they just give everyone the same high marks week after week regardless of performance or improvement.
