Where you in or near a Tesco? Cable & Wireless always seems to appear there but I'm not sure exactly what it's for.

Didn't they create their own internal / private network for their employees to communicate over or something?
Or did I imagine that, can't seem to find anything useful on google... EDIT: Found it http://www.computerweekly.com/news/2...work-100m-deal |

Ah, that would explain why I always see Tesco staff at the customer service desks using weird phones that look like fixed line handsets but have an aerial and are completely wireless. I've always wondered what technology they used.

Cable & Wireless provided an FMC solution for Tesco.
Small pico cells in store running over the Tesco landlines for staff mobiles, then when the staff leave the store, falls over to mobile network. |

Surprising really that Tesco or any other supermarket has never really collaborated with a mobile phone network to put picocells for consumers in there stores.

Very surprising as unless the mast is very very close by you normally struggle to get much in the way of a reliable signal on EE & three due to the frequency, and as a man the supermarket is somewhere I really could do with a signal as my brain has usually recycled the mental list I made with my other half in the house moments earlier!

No service on all 4 networks in my local Sainsburys, Tesco and Morrisons, all of whom have good signal outside and are all a long way from each other (across town). I only assumed it was the design and construction ! |

My local Morrisons is next to a mast and inside it often drops down to no signal. It's an old building so there must be something that's blocking the signal. A small cell inside would be appreciated but considering they've only just stopped doing paper stock checks it might take a while.
