TalkTalk streamed picture quality?
Hey! Quick question, how does people find the picture quality of the channels for e.g. Sky One? I find the picture quality on Virgin Media to be very good.
I find it annoying on some channels where the quality can be so low it's almost unwatchable and text is unreadable, however I am guessing that TT Streamed channels will be MPEG4 and hoping it's as good as the SD on Virgin Media. |

I have the streamed channels that come as part of the Plus Package (Sky One, Two, Living, Real Lives, Arts and Sky Sports News). The streamed quality is excellent - every bit as good as the best broadcast channels. It is important, I think, to have the best possible connection between your router and the box, though. Originally, I was connected via powerline adapters, but discovered that they restricted it to 7Mbps, instead of the 38 I was getting wirelessly to my computer. This led to occasional dropouts on the Sky channels, although Netflix and the other on demand stuff were unaffected. I am now connected with an ethernet cable and everything is rock solid.

Thank you, I had Virgin a month and had a million and one issues and I had BT TV before and I'll be continuing to use the box as I have all my series links and the boxes are faster and have more storage than the Talk Talk boxes, glad to hear that TalkTalk haven't crippled the quality! The box will have a gigabit Ethernet connection as I have a wire going across the house through the walls and floorboards, so should be as reliable as it can be.
Also do you get any Free connect on Talk Talk Player, when I was around a friends they had free access to Warner TV on demand and similar content as part of Plus. Thank you David for your reply

Yes, you do. Some of the Sky on-demand stuff is free. When you highlight it in the TalkTalk Player it indicates whether it is subscription or included in your package. If I remember rightly, 'True Detective' and 'Hannibal' are available free, among other stuff. TalkTalk took over Blinkbox a few months ago and this is now beginning to show in the TalkTalk Player. All five series of 'Game of Thrones' are available to buy if you want them (in either SD or HD). They don't download to the hard drive. It just means that you can stream them, having paid once, as often as you like. Even if you subsequently leave TalkTalk, you retain your Blinkbox membership automatically and keep the right to stream what you have bought.
