I thought I might have a reason to keep watching after tonight, but sadly not.

I hope I find out from "Inside Soap" that there's been a twist and Ross has died - but that was pathetic! Knocked out 3 times, dumped in the boot of a car, thrown down a slope and covered up, and you want us to believe that he recovered, threw off the branches, rearranged them and got himself to hospital?

I can only see 3 possible ways that this can go;
1. Ross eventually recovers, and eventually goes back to being his awful self, getting revenge on Pete, and anyone else he can think of.
2. Ross eventually recovers, has amnesia, the last few years never happened and he becomes a nice, smiling, friendly chap.
3. Ross dies from complications - maybe just as his family are told that he's alive.
The first two scenarios would be awful; the last would be quite good, but possibly not enough to make me want to watch it.

The live episode a year or so ago was so brilliant that I expected more from the writers.

Oh well, that's 2 1/2 hours extra time that I have now.

Killing Ross off would have been a big mistake. He's one of soaps best characters 🌚

If you loathe him that much, then by all means tune out - Aaron has the same effect on me. But I think it was obvious he wasn't dead.

No one knows how he got to hospital. Maybe he crawled out of his hole and was found by a dog walker, who called an ambulance. No idea. Maybe we'll find out.

I expect option 1 is the most likely. He will recover. That's what soap characters do. And after that, who knows? But as you won't be watching, I'll leave it there.

I'm glad Ross isn't dead, definitely one of the better characters in Emmerdale by far. Brilliant actor too.

Have fun with the extra 2 1/2 hours of your life!

from that short scene how do you come to the conclusion that Ross "threw off the branches, rearranged them and got himself to hospital"?

Either way i don't care, Michael Parr is one of the best actors on the show so i'm so happy right now!

You don't just axe one of your best actors. Kate Oates isn't that stupid.

And I think it's likely that somebody found Ross, checked for a pulse and phoned an ambulance. The nurse said she was looking forward to meeting him so he clearly hadn't woken up yet.

Why do people on here even write a thread saying 'oh I'm not watching _______ anymore'. Fine yes you've given up watching, It won't make much, if any difference to others & there no need to make a big song & dance about it.

I don't watch Emmerdale these days. I only watched the wedding one to see the explosion!

But I've watched soaps over the years long enough to know that if you think you've killed someone .... if you don't literally bury them underground, but leave them above ground covered with a few leaves .... that someone isn't dead.

So the actor didn't leave after all then?
I thought he posted a goodbye message.
Was he just told to do that to mislead people?!

bib: I hope not...Carly or Chrissie would be much more convincing, and much less dull; the sour faced Dingle really drags Ross down, plot-wise.

I've had to stop watching it too, just not feeling any Barton related stuff by the looks of it there appears to be a fair bit of it on the horizon

I don't loathe him at all - I just think it's rather a ridiculous story line.
I don't think it was at all obvious he wasn't dead. If, when he jumped in the quarry, we hadn't seen him resurface and people were saying he was dead - that would mean he was alive. As someone said in another thread, if we don't see the body; they're not dead. But we did - we saw him get knocked out and whacked about.

And I would hope that plots are not dictated by how popular viewers think the character might be. Ross is not all that important; the show would survive very well without him.
