It truly is the end of an era.

When Ali married Ruby it had me in floods. Everything they'd gone through in the village had led to that moment, and it took a heart of stone not to be moved by the beautiful ceremony.

And who could forget the pregnancy storyline? We as viewers all felt the joy of Ali and Ruby's pregnancy, and our hearts all broke as they grieved over the miscarriage. I can't think of another character who could possibly have captivated millions of viewersin the way Ali did.

What are your favourite Ali memories? How will ED move on now that the heart of the village has left?

The actress is actually quite capable, and I've seen her in plenty of things where she's been really good but Ali Spencer was a pretty crappy character and I just never took to her. I can't remember a single scene that impressed me!!!

No Ali memory beats her getting in that cab tonight and waving goodbye.

Priceless

Who can forget her greatest storyline; illiterate line worker to literate factory supervisor in a matter of days? Even Laurel weeing herself when drunk can't top that as ine of ED's finest moments!

There is one memory of her I wish I could erase from my mind.....her and Dan going at it on the couch. No one wanted to see that.

Just think about how Sean and Amelia were conceived. That will take your mind off it

Has there been an exit video? There was a big thing made about the actor who played Ross not making one. No child seat for Archie in that taxi I noticed, isn't that illegal.

What will I miss about her? Her beaming smile and twinkling eyes.

I shall miss her warmth and the way she could light up a room with her presence.

The character was crap and it was the right decision to write her out. However, I think the actress has been treated unfairly these past few months; written out randomly with a weak explanation for weeks on end and not even being used in the immediate aftermath of her on-screen partner's death.

Grrrrrrrrr, well I LIKED HER.

And as you ask, my favourite Ali moments were when she became a daft soft-headed old Mum when lovely Sean went off to join the army. And marrying Ruby.

Goodbye, Ali. I may be absolutely the only person sadly waving you off with goodwill in their hearts, but I AM HERE.
