Honor 7 thread; Octo-core Full HD phone with 21MP camera and fingerprint scanner

I think it's time to create a thread ready for the UK/Europe launch of the Honor 7, the new flagship that will be unveiled later this afternoon in London.

I'll be there to find out more about the phone, which went on sale in China earlier in the year. Unlike the Honor 6 Plus, this phone will now support ALL 4G bands used here, so that means 800MHz!

It will be interesting to see if the phone gets ranged by more operators this time around, and also what the price is going to be (hopefully not far off the Honor 6 price of around £200-250).

Key specs;

5.2-inch Full HD display
Sony IMX230 image sensor
Fingerprint reader
Kirin 935 octo-core chipset
3100mAh battery
16GB / 3GB RAM model with memory card slot
64GB / 3GB RAM model with memory card slot that can alternatively be used for second SIM

Please feel free to ask questions here, and I'll also have photos and video on Twitter and my own blog later.

The reviews I've read have been disappointing. It seems OK for the price and I'm sure people will buy it. But as an iPhone user who puts experience, delight and gorgeous design well above price - it's not for me.

Do you know if this runs standard Android or something like Cyanogen?

Thanks

It has Huawei's EMUI (v3.1) skin on top of Android 5.1.1

And it's a budget phone trying to punch above its weight, so not really comparable to an iPhone. This will be under £300. Add £40-50 for a 128GB memory card and...

In any case, it's not likely to be trying to steal iOS users, but rather offer Android users more choice and value.

There's always the £800 Galaxy S6 edge+ if you want high specs AND high prices!

There's a rumour that it might go on sale for £200 or less, at least as an introductory offer. That's insanely cheap if true.

Sony's new IMX230 image sensor is pretty amazing from what I've seen, and likely what Sony will be using in its new devices to be launched at IFA next week. And they won't be £200 phones...

I have done a little bit of digging around and I'm struggling to find what other chipsets the Kirin 935 is equivalent to.

No coverage of this anywhere . Nothing on the Honor website. GSM arena reported 3 days ago that it may retail for 200 as an intro to the brand .

Hope this is true and consumers can purchase direct swiftly .
Fingers crossed the UK sees a shift towards good phones in this price bracket.

Makes me sad to see these young kids stuck for 24 months with a 700 quid + Samsung or iPhone

What's the update schedule going to be like given that people say in the past they have not been good.

HaHa....you're funny.

PS Back to reality for a second - £210 for this spec is a pretty amazing price. In fact I would call the price a delight

Seems legit

You'd think they might have some in stock on the day they start selling them on special offer

That's what I was thinking. I think if they were in stock I'd order one for that price

It's a Three UK exclusive according to a tweet from them.

“@ThreeUK: So the @HonorEU 7 is coming, exclusive to Three. 20MP camera. Impressive smartphone. #honor7senses

It goes on sale 31st August at £209 if you get a £40 voucher.

A pretty good price for what's essentially a Huawei P8 with a Sony IMX230 camera and bigger battery (plus fast charging that isn't to be confused with Quick Charge as it's not that quick I believe).

Could this be the cheapest phone with a Sony IMX230 camera?
