Pretty damn good I think, up there with the likes of the G4 and S6, equivalent to the upcoming Moto X Style.

Ah thanks. Interesting to see that level of technology on such a cheap phone.

Not that much to say that isn't already know. Think of it is as a Huawei P8 with a few component changes.

The fitness watch was quite cool too.

I was thinking of getting an S6 edge

It's just the stupidity of launching a phone and having no stock to sell.

It's a decent offering and lets be honest for that price it blows many phones out the water. Makes you wonder where all this will stop.

In general, what do these OS updates do apart from slow down the phone and add features that barely anyone will ever use?

Aye, security "updates" - but those will likely be pushed as updates through Google Play rather than a formal update to the OS.

I've not ever found myself wanting with my P8. For most benchmarks it does well. For some it has been shown to be below par, but it hasn't made any difference that I can see day to day.

I am not currently playing that many games, but if I run 3D benchmarks it seems perfectly smooth and frame rates are still high. As usual, the biggest problem on any device with such power under the hood is that heat starts to throttle things. The Honor 7 has been designed to dissipate heat more effectively, and given the problems with anything using Snapdragon 810 I am really quite happy NOT to have a device that has a more powerful SoC.

Bearing in mind that I am now very happy to use devices with just Snapdragon 400/410, the Honor 7 can hardly be considered 'not good' in the GPU department. Not as good perhaps, but does everyone need a device that scores 70,000 on AnTuTu?

It might not score as high as some devices (of which some still likely cheat the benchmarks) but I suspect the Honor 7 will probably have a score on AnTuTu that's well over double that of, say, a Moto G - which is a perfectly usable device.

You'd have to be down to devices selling for £50-60 to find something that I'd argue was not up for the job. There's NO WAY ON EARTH anyone has to now pay £800 for a smartphone unless they're happy to throw money away in the name of fashion, which is the main reason people are 'happy' to buy luxury goods.

There's no harm in someone buying a Galaxy S6 edge+ for that sort of money obviously (it is a very nice device, don't get me wrong, with a screen that gets 'wows' from just about everyone who sees it), but don't kid yourself that you're getting something 3 or 4 times as good as what's now coming on to the market from companies like Huawei/Honor, Motorola, Wileyfox, OnePlus, Xiaomi etc.

It goes on sale 31st August at £209 if you get a £40 voucher.

A pretty good price for what's essentially a Huawei P8 with a Sony IMX230 camera and bigger battery (plus fast charging that isn't to be confused with Quick Charge as it's not that quick I believe).

Could this be the cheapest phone with a Sony IMX230 camera?
I have looked but could not see just what screen protection this phone has (ie Gorilla glass)
Do you know ?

Yes, it is Gorilla Glass (they said that at the press conference, mentioning that it hadn't been clarified before on the Chinese models).

Didn't say what 'version' though.

Anyone know if it can do 3/4G on both SIMs or only one? Selectable would be fine.

It says dual 4G, but I'm not sure. Chances are it will be like the 6 Plus and 3G/4G on one, and 2G the other.

Given it only has 16GB storage (the 64GB one not coming to the UK), I'll be using a memory card in the second slot anyway.

Thanks for that Jon, but just on live chat to V-Mall and here I also asked the question & they have just come back with a no ?

BTW not disputing what you were told.

Back again .............. they have just come back saying that it does have gorilla postage is free.
Now to get this at the 209 price I have until (as you know) the end of the month, what is your considered opinion about waiting until much nearer December as prices may (?) fall a little more.

I know they plan to use voucher codes again but have no idea when, or how much. They didn't say and likely won't to prevent losing sales if people wait.

Thanks, I don't need storage really. Currently have VOD in Sim 2 for voice and and 3 in SIM 1 for data on my ZTE. Would be good to be able to use the VOD SIM for data too though, in the rare event that I ever find any coverage. Looking at the Eliphone P6000 as I think you can select on that one.

Only thing that really lets my ZTE down (messy Android aside) is the camera. So the 7 appeals on that front.
