Looking for Good Value PAYG deal
I ask this question because I have just got a Talkmobile SIM card. Unfortunately it is impossible to contact them to posr my old number over. The phone goes "Thank you for calling. Bye" and the line goes dead. Web chat is unavailble. By pressing a variety of buttons anyone I can speak to is not the least bit interested in PAYG. To add insult to injury there is no email address.
It would seem to me that it is pointless joining them anyway but I am a low user and some of my family successfully have contracts with them. I suppose I could stay with O2 but it is not cheap at 12p a text for starters. Any suggestion? If I don't acknowledge any comments I am off to an "away" fixture wedding shortly. I shall need a very large drink when I get there!. Back to comment Monday. |

I maintain a comprehensive list of PAYG tariffs at http://petef.22web.org/payg.html. That also has links to other comparison sites.
My own plan is Talkmobile Essentials but I am constrained by Vodafone providing the only half decent signal where i live. -- Pete Forman http://petef.22web.org/payg.html |

Three is worth considering with their 1-2-3 tariff. (1p per MB, 2p per text, 3p per minute).

I know it's not PAYG exactly but I have a rolling 30 day sim only with Virgin, 150 minutes, 500mb and unlimited texts for £8 a month. Pretty cheap really and I've never had any bother with it.

However, as well as the price comparison, it's worth noting that not all networks are equal in other ways, particularly technically. I've tested almost all networks and Delight Mobile / Vectone mobile didn't come out too well! I found that texting mobile numbers which had been ported resulted in the text being lost. Post Dial Delay (how long it takes for a call to make progress after dialling) is more lengthy and things like outbound caller ID are not 100%. |

Assuming you get a signal, Three 3-2-1 payg is very cheap and credit doesn't expire:
"Top-ups have no expiry date, unless there is no activity at all on an account for 180 days as Three reserves the right to terminate or suspend unused accounts. " In practice they left my PAYG credit unused for two years on the phone in the car with no use. They will send you a free sim from their web site if you want to check coverage in your area. |

Don't use GiffGaff i mean NiffNaff they are the worst network provider and that's saying something with the amount of networks out there.
There internet is none existent they have No custom service so you can't talk to a human it's all done on there forum which is useless as well. Be warned they are really bad should be stopped from doing business with anyone. |

Thats worth knowing. Will try to make some progress during the week. I get the feeling that all companies have little interest nowadays in traditional PAYG and prefer a monthly SIM or phone deal that give monthly income.
They used to have a PAYG tariff called Flat 12 which was 'everything' at 12p, when 3-2-1p came in I jumped onto that. Also called them to disable the voicemail, so my monthly PAYG outgoings are rarely more than £5 a month. I use data on the phone occasionally. Spare in the car still has unexpired credit from last year. Also Three can forward calls to home landline, so I can turn off the mobile when at home, also rates to use the phone in France (etc) are astonishingly cheap. I have no connection with Three other than my PAYG chip, but so far, I have nothing to moan about. ![]() Free SIMs here , if anyone wants one. http://bit.ly/1KoXPjx " Be warned they are really bad should be stopped from doing business with anyone. " That's really not my experience since 2008, including a four year broadband contract, renewed once. |

As the family are mainly on Talkmobile I decided to give them a go. Bad mistake. Got my number ported over but trying to register and top up seems to be impossible. The PAYG department are either not interested or there are not enough of them to speak to anybody. Put my info into the web page, tried to log in and it said speak to customer services!!
I have got as far as we will call you back withing 48 hours....!! ![]() Fortunately I am not a big user of mobiles and I may be moving again before the end of the week! My own fault entirely.
