Hi all,

Is there a way block unsolicited marketing calls on Virgin Mobile?

Many thanks.

Android? Windows? BlackBerry? iPhone?

The free 'Block 'em' app works well on Android and BlackBerry, Windows phones have in built blocking, (with Denim update). iPhone - don't know.

The network never maintains personal user blocklists, that is something you need to do on the phone.

Many thanks for the replies. It's for my Dad who has given his mobile number to car insurance companies and he's now being hassled

Unfortunately, his phone is quite old - Nokia 6230i - and he's adamant he doesn't want to change his number, and I think he's pretty reluctant to change his phone too, therefore I was hoping that there was a blocking mechanism either on the phone, SIM, or at network level, but appears not.

We're hoping to persuade him to have a new phone soon anyway as the battery reliability of his Nokia isn't great now. We're also planning on porting numbers to GiffGaff.

Are there any inexpensive, easy to use phones that can block incoming calls?

Thanks again.

I'd just tell them to remove the number when they call, I think there are aren't many basic cheap phones with blocked caller list.

Giffgaff isn't the cheapest per minute or text either, most of the supermarkets are a little cheaper unless he's the sort that needs 100's of minutes or texts a month, plus no customer support except online for him. Is he happy to deal with any issues or manage his account purely on the website? no shop to go into or number to call..

Unless he's on O2 currently, I wouldn't do that. Get a real network good for voice calls, not a marketing gimmick that needs you to use a website for support. Try Sainsburys, Tesco or Asda mobile as well.
