I don't mind him but he lost ground for me by snubbing Janice's apology. That felt churlish and had undertones of some point scoring agenda. I am now a bit suspicious of him.
I find him vile. |

BiB- I've not been watching religiously so I may have missed some of this torrent of bitching you're saying he's done but...
The difference, as I see it, is that what bitching he *does* do is delivered with a modicum of wit and humour, and without taking himself particularly seriously. That makes him somewhat endearing as opposed to Farrah, who takes herself VERY SERIOUSLY INDEED, which therefore translates as being obnoxious. Did you miss those examples? |

How about talking about Farahs sextaoe and being judgemental as soon as she walked in? Saying she's famous for having a child when he is only known for who he slept with, how about the witty way each time he has a disagreement he resorts to screaming insults and derogatory comments and calling the women ****ers and bitches abs referring to their sexual past. ...
Did you miss those examples? |

I like him he seems to have a sense of humour and sees through the others completely which is what some of them dislike. He is interesting too unlike some others in there.

I don't like him he is nasty. Hes been gunning for Farrah since she waked down the stairs. Janice was right about him he was being provocative he was more or less calling Farrah a liar by asking the same question he had already received an answer to because he didnt get the answer he wanted. He also said she called herself the queen of reality. She didnt Janice did.

He's highly irritating - far too in love with himself. I'm no Farrah fan, but he's been anti her from the beginning. Plus he's extremely aggressive. Good housemate though.

I'd happily see him and James out. They bore me witless. They are inane, vain and smug. They open their mouths and it's like listening to two particularly immature 14 year olds. And those high-pitched voices! Yuck. I know I'm in disagreement with most of the forum who seem to adore this 'bromance' but it makes me nauseous. Quote:
I just think if he a was a women you would all be hating him like Jenna/Farrah but because he's a man and is aesthetically pleasing then it's okay for him to act the way he did in tonight's show? His game plan is definitely working on the public then...
Quote:
I like him and i love his take of things in an arguement like if he sees something wrong he is not afraid to talk up like how he saw janice was making gail run after her plus i love his bromance with James
Secondly, anything Gail has done for Janice she has OFFERED to do. Has Janice got a sense of entitlement? Sure; but so do the happy clappy bath crew who took over the bathroom for over an hour, used all the hot water and then assumed Gail would clean up after them. Quote:

I like him. He has a sense of humour. Unlike the other Americans. I like his friendship with James and I think we would see some fun and humour going on if it weren't for all the shouty women sticking their oars in where they're not needed.

No, he's to premeditated for my liking and has a very bitchy streak.

The very fact that he makes an effort to put both Farrah and Janice into their places, is a big plus for me.

He has a very good sense of humour and doesn't take himself too seriously, unlike most of the other egotistical divas in the house.

Bit in bold - that's not what happened at all. That was a defensive jibe. He had JUST said, nonchalantly, that Gail would clean the bath. Janice called him on it and he didn't like one little bit of it.

What 'wit'? What 'humour'? He's just a shouty bitch.

Again, what humour? What am I missing here?

Doesn't he just?

I think neither he nor Jenna have any interest in Janice other than as an adversary. They keep picking and going and goading and every time Janice apologises they will neither accept nor move on. It's childish, self-centered and very scheming.
As others have pointed out, Austin doesn't let the 'Mean Girls' have their way. He doesn't let them make excuses for their ugly, poisonous behaviour, and he calls them out in the only way they understand. That's a hugely admirable quality, and it makes him my current favourite of all the housemates. True, he should have accepted Janice's apology with good grace, but maybe he's just sick and tired of arguing and making up with these people, only for conflict to flare up again five minutes later. |

Such concern for Gail. I always show my concern for people by suggesting they scrub out my bath. Think what it will be like when he's really fond of her. He may let him scrub to loos for him. What a privilege!

He'd been stewing about Janice's entitlement and Gail's submissive behaviour all day. This was the straw that broke the camel's back and he decided to tell Janice exactly what he thought of her. That took real balls, considering Janice's reputation. It got shouty because someone like Janice was never going to respond to a mild telling-off. The fact that you've dismissed Austin as a 'bitch', etc. means that you think his motives are entirely suspect, no matter what he does.
Makes no difference. Austin's anger wasn't merely about Gail, but about ALL of Janice's 'Queen Bee' behaviour. He was standing up for a principle. You may not have liked the way he did it, but I suspect Gandhi might have had a hard time keeping his cool in THAT environment... Opinion masquerading as fact. Irrelevant. Your own sense of humour. No. There's no evidence of 'picking and goading', only a remarkable degree of immaturity (including Austin) on all sides. Second bit in bold - ah, dear. You've lost every argument when you make it personal against the posters. I don't tend to engage in that; I try to stick to the hms and the house. What about the 'mean boys'? Austin and James are bitchy and conniving and WENT TO the 'mean girls' as you call them looking for their opinions. Tough luck to them if they didn't like what they heard. |

Isn't it laughable? But Austin's (and James') fanclub (making up about half the forum if the polls are anything to go by) will just completely ignore that he was doing EXACTLY what he accused Janice of doing in terms of Gail.
I think the Americans are overreacting because they're 80% highly strung and 20% doing it for the cameras. They know how to work reality TV. |

But wasn't that the point that Austin was making though? Janice was trying to take the moral highground about the housemates letting Gail do things for them, but Austin was pointing out that it was actually Janice herself who had being letting Gail do everything for her since she entered, so for her to criticise others for letting Gail do all the work was ironic.

It's hard to judge, to be honest. I don't think I've seen Janice ASK Gail to do anything. What I definitely did see was James bat away suggestions that he clean the bath after himself because Gail was going to do it.
Love that you happily fill in the blanks re Janice in a positive light but negative re Austin. He batted it away because Gail wanted to clean the bath so why shouldn't he? I'll give Janice the benefit of the doubt and assume Gail volunteered to unpack for her, change her bed clothes and make her drinks and snacks. If sometimes seems that if there is a HM that people like others feel the need to go to lengths to put that HM down even bigging up totally unworthy HMs and ignoring all negative aspects in others. |

Didn't you mention about not being personal. This seems pretty personal to me. I like Austin but don't even for a minute think he's perfect or incapable of being wrong. You may think his fans are blind idiots as you seem to be suggesting but obviously they're not just like you aren't as a non fan

I'm also at a complete loss as to what's funny or endearing about either of them. Who am I bigging up? I simply said that I haven't seen Janice ask or assume that Gail will do menial tasks. I have seen Austin do so - re the bath. I can't stand Farrah, Jenna, Janice, Austin, James or Natasha. I'm finding Gail hard work with the martyr act and I haven't seen enough of the others to form an opinion. |

No, it's not personal at all. It's what happens every year - we get immediate fan favourites or pairs of favourites - like Ginxter etc. This year is Jaustin - see the front page and the favourite polls. I didn't make any comment about any individual. I find it extraordinary that Austin and James' role in making digs at the girls either to their faces or behind their backs is completely ignored by most posters; as is their tendancy to talk out of both sides of their mouth. James seems to want everyone's opinion on his and Austin's relationship; only to then bitch to someone else about the responses he gets. It's extraordinarily predictable and tedious.

I don't like James and definitely believe he is a stirrer. They're not a couple as far as I'm concerned and I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks that way. Yes most series there's a favourite of course but fans can be discerning. I haven't always liked the favourite and tbh until your post about this I didn't even realise Austin was a favourite. I know he's not perfect but personally I feel he's far from vile which I've already heard him described as Not by you I hasten to add but I do think the criticism of him is well over the top and not completely based on fact.

Yeah, I do, but after last night, imo, he needs to keep some what out of the arguments.
The Americans are "super" loud and if he keeps involving himself in every argument that's going, he will get on my nerves. Enough already, Austin. Be warned!!!! |
