I must have lived a sheltered life, as I have no idea what that means.

My recollection from her news reading days is that she was (still is) very attractive and dressed appropriately for the job. I absolutely do not recall ever thinking 'OMG, she looks like a p*****s'.

I'd better get off to Specsavers!
Wow, I never saw that.

I'm assuming she cocked it up?!!
Maybe means 'in attire that had a phallic effect' ?

Well, without prompting I would never have made the association, I'm afraid. Even with prompting, it took me a minute or two to figure out what the fuss was about.
That said, it's not a great jacket.

Hmmm, she looks delightful in that picture.
I think there is a more succinct turn of phrase for the effect she might have had then - I certainly had a bit of a crush on her at that time.

OK - I see what you mean now!

I think I would have seen the double entendres for what they were back then if I had been viewing. I wonder if Katie did before she wore it?

Shortcut to the jacket photo.

I'm not sure about that. Doesn't look kosher to me.

Is this where the phrase "with knobs on" comes from?

Just wondering. Is there no Strictly tonight because she is presenting TLNOTP?

No, after the couples are announced there is a three week training period to help the celebs to learn the basics.

Not at the latin dances, he's not, Terry. And i like Anton!

I like Katie. I watch the Proms and she always comes across really well.

As for any 'negative' attributes - well, it's all subjective, isn't it? And perhaps when people make these baseless accusations (especially on a show where appearances last less then 5 minutes!), they're actually 'projecting' just a tiny little bit and allowing their own prejudices and other factors cloud their judgement.

Or perhaps they just have an axe to grind for no reason whatsoever.

I'm sure everyone who posts in forums is the most perfect human being ever to grace this planet.

Just sayin'

I Agree, Anton can't do latin, but he's really skilled in Ballroom.

I have to admit, I don't post half as often as I used to do in the SCD threads (and haven't done for the past three years), because of the level of negativity and increasing nastiness toward the celebs (and the pros) as the series progresses.

It's a light-hearted entertainment show with celebs learning to dance. Getting so involved that it's deemed justified to start throwing around completely uncalled for insults toward those participating is incredibly silly and in my opinion, simply reflects badly on those who indulge in it.

It ruins SCD for me and it's the main reason i stay off the boards as the weeks go by.

Having said which; I have to say I find Anton's ballroom sublime. He really knows his stuff (and so he should!). However, Katie will be hamstrung (not literally, I hope!) by his latin, as he's the weakest out of all the male pros in this respect. I do like th eway he sticks up for his celebs, though, even if it's usually with a huge twinkle in his eyes!

Looking forward to the new series. If only to see Craig again (I adore Craig. I'm sorry, but I do!).

Ah yes, Anton's Latin. The less said the better. And I adore Craig too!

Well yes, actually I think he can to a large extent, despite his shortcomings as a performer. I think Anton knows full well the basics of how it is supposed to be danced and will be able to articulate that to Katie, and demonstrate it (maybe not as beautifully as Pasha say, but well enough for a beginner) . Generally speaking the celebs don't get time to learn the finer more advanced technique on Strictly. I doubt if many of them get into discussions about the finer points of rib, knee, foot movement or whatever. Also in Latin your partner's weaknesses have less impact on you since you are very much less likely to be in hold.

So yes I think he will be able to teach her, particularly in earlier weeks. Maybe could do with a female latin pro to help with the more feminine touches

Overall choreography, energy and performance level may be lacking though and that could be a problem.

Edit: just started to have doubts about my post. Just went to watch samba with Ann W and he doesn't look great in that, technically. . There is a video of him with Lesley Garrett and they are dancing a reasonable samba there. He does quite a few promenade runs which is quite an attractive step to ballroom dancers.

I wouldn't worry about it too much, I assume with Anne he was dancing down to her level as it didn't really matter (I hope).

Katie was pretty good but unfortunately Anton was no better than usual. If they are to progress he badly needs to keep a lid on things and try to remember this isn't primarily about him.
