Any aspect of it being a performance makes it a performance. They can be a real couple putting on a show of fake relationship dramas and Romance Novel speeches, and it's a performance. Or they can be a full-on fictional couple and that's also a performance.
If you believe those flowery speeches between them are real however, that's worrisome. Nobody in the universe actually talks like that (and I'm not even referring to Chloe's posh voice, but the Romance Novel nonsense like "I knew you were in pain and lonely from the moment I first met you!" and the like).

1. Age Difference.....Their ages are ten years apart!
2. Different personalities! Stevi is cringe and Chloe is only cringe when around him!
